Classic Holiday Movies that rarely get televised anymore

The Griswolds National Lampoon Christmas has been on quite a bit so far and it just gets funnier each time I see it.

I don't know if there was a change in contracts in who has the rights to show it, but Christmas Vacation was on all through the year on CMT and TV Land, even until October. In the last few weeks though I've only seen it on ABC Family.

A couple of years back AMC even showed it all day on Christmas, like TBS does with A Christmas Story. I loved it when that happened because I was able to go back and forth between my two favorite Christmas movies and watch the best parts of each. :D

Does anyone still show what is possibly the worst Christmas movie
ever made: "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians"?

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is in the public domain. I have it on DVD bought out of a
dollar store bin. I have seen it run on LPTV stations. One where I used to live in Ohio, and on WBGN
here in Pittsburgh.

It is also being shown on the big screen at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont, Pennsylvania this
Christmas season if you are so inclined.

"THe Bear Who Slept Through Christmas" is another one I remember. Think it aired at first on NBC in the early 70's. I know some voices were Tommy Smothers as Ted E. Bear, Barbara Feldon and Arte Johnson also had voice roles.

I think the old Family Channel and later Fox Family aired it in the late 90's-early 2000's. But I think it's been nowhere for about 9 or 10 years now.

There's one my kids used to like, Jaclyn Smith as the wife of an oil wildcatter in the Arctic whose
Eeeeeevil exploitation of our natural resources was threatening Santa's Workshop at the North Pole.
I recall Paul Williams playing an elf. Not my cup of tea (other than Miss Smith always being easy on
the eyes). Have not seen it in at least a decade though.

There were two more Ted E. Bear specials produced during the 1980s -- one for Halloween (which was shown around Christmas instead, for some reason), and a combination one for Thanksgiving and Christmas -- each one more forgettable, and terrible, than the other:

The site also has an entry for "The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas":

The there is that fine Mexican import from 1959 "Santa Claus" (English dubbed), featuring "big-brother" Santa, kiddies from around the world enslaved in old St Nick's sweatshop, creepy wind-up reindeer, and of course, the devil

I found more listings for Christmas Vacation: Tonight on ABC Family and Jan. 7 and 8 on Comedy Central. Is 2012 going to turn out to be another year where it's easier to find during other times of the year than during the Christmas season?

You could always do westerns or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you know, the usual lighthearted Christmas fare on some networks.

Hey, here's one that no one will air anymore: The Night The Animals Talked! It's the story about a bunch of barnyard animals who witness the birth of Jesus Christ-and can talk like humans! The songs that were featured-"The Greatest Miracle Of All" and "It's Great To Communicate"-are largely forgotten! We should revive the airing of that show.
As the cow tells us, "Let's stop behaving like humans."

An American Chrismas Carol (1979) was on ABC Family for awhile. Henry Winkler was the "Scrooge" in this one..

Dorian Harewood played an uber-cool Ghost of Christmas Future in that one

And by the way, American Top 40 host Casey Kasem was the narrator.
