classic "Michael Brown's People" clip on wfaa website - c. 1978

Thanks for pointing it out.

In 1978,
I never had clothes like that,
never had dance moves like that,
but I did have hair like that. :'(

Wow, thanx Mike for the Belo surprise  8)

It has been ages (if not more) since I've seen anything with Michael on video. Back when he and Sandra were at Tyler's KLTV/7 for a time, and Sandra did the weather with a pointer, my grandmother's cat would get up on top of the TV to try to swat her paws at the stick!! It's still trippy to me to see a book of Sandra's on the shelf, knowing a bit of the ol' humble beginnings...

Wow.. that was some really awful television. His request that we not switch over to see what Donahue had would have had me leaping for the remote to find out. Gee whiz.

As I recall, Brown did a little of everything at channel 8. He did weekend weather for a while, anchored the news and may have done sports for a bit. I also recall reading something about 15 years ago that he and his wife were so rich off her books that they had several houses, including one in the south of France. He can look back at embarrassing clips like this and laugh quite a bit.

I seem to recall a husband-wife anchor team
on WWL/4 New Orleans around the same time:
Garland and Angela Robinette, I believe were
their names. The only other husband-wife
anchor team that comes to mind is Don Farmer
and Chris Curle, who were on CNN and later
on WSB/2 Atlanta, but that was in the '80s
and '90s.

I do remember Michael and Sandra Brown, and
it was a real surprise when I learned she's the
famous romance novelist. There was a third
Brown at Channel 8 in those days: Bob Brown,
who went on to be a correspondent on "20/20."
Don't know if he was related to Michael Brown.

Actually, there's another Michael Brown, who also worked for Belo at the same time, but at rocker 98-KZEW "The Zoo." Bob Brown's not related, far as I know...but in another weird coincidence, the NBC cameraman who was gunned down in Jonestown along with former WFAA-TV anchor Don Harris in Nov 1978 was named Bob Brown.
