WMTR, whose Classic Oldies went to Good Time Oldies not too long ago, is back to Classic Oldies.

Hey thats great to hear the station is back on track, wish they'd somehow get an FM signal on the air,but I know thats just dreaming...MTR has a decent signal,I can get it all over NJ.

If ONLY that was true... it does well for itself as a Class B but "all over NJ" is a bit of a stretch! ::)

Greater Media pulled a CBS Radio and basically admitted that an error in judgement was made back in the summer. Unfortunately if the station is predominantly voicetracked or "automated" the listener again LOSES out. Sure the music is great and a commodity here in 2008 but I'm not necessarily sure that alone is enough to keep people tuned in...Jocks would help immensely. As we ALL know though that would require dollars to be spent. Someone wise once said to me "you gotta spend money to make money" but apparently that isn't a widespread mentality anymore. Nice to have the music back on the air NOW get more DJ's!!

;)

The damage was done----WMTR should have gone Country with a supplied service.Their first mistake was playing very few songs when they were CLASSIC OLDIES originally. WMTR has a reach into areas with no country !!!!!

I live in Queens and can get WMTR loud and clear during the day with a GE Superradio. I think WMTR has made the right move in differentiating itself from WCBS-FM in playing 1955-63 music and ignoring the 80s.

Is WCTC still the Good Time Oldies station? I only listen to 'CTC for sports

WCTC seems to be a hybrid of local/satellite programming with Jack Ellery still anchoring the Morning Drive duties. Middays now seem to be handled in house with no PM Drive jock according to the website. The "off-peak hours" seem to be programmed by the Westwood One "Oldies Channel" feed which is what I heard today on-air. I guess the Jones format was tossed for this one not only on WCTC but also on WMTR. The odd part is that WMTR seems to be offering all programming from "in house" which WCTC isn't. If Rutgers is WCTC's "bread and butter" than I guess they really don't care what is used for "fill programming."

From what I caught of the format today it sounded good. Nice balance of 60's/70's with a couple 80's tunes well positioned. It's still positioned as "Good Time Oldies."

I do get WMTR all over NJ ,why is that a surprise ??
Thats on a factory delco am/fm....
Their signal is good to me.

I will give you a week's pay if you can pick up WMTR (on a radio, not an internet stream) in downtown Trenton while WFJS (1260) is on the air. I also dare you to try and pick up WMTR down in Salem, Cumberland, and Cape May counties.

Well stated!! Glad someone else noticed the inaccuracy of the coverage indicated by the poster. WMTR gets out fairly well to the E, SE, NE and S where it then runs into trouble from the adjacents. I have heard it as far away as Danbury, CT and as far south as Toms River, NJ but certainly NOT "all over NJ!"

You can get WMTR in Wildwood, Bridgeton and Vineland? I'm impressed! I can't even get them here in Southern Ocean County using my Terk AM Advantage external loop antenna!

It's quite obvious that this "magicjellybeans" person thinks that the whole state of New Jersey only exists north of I-78 and east of I-287. ::)
