Classic Rock in Wilmington

What is going on with three radio stations playing the same classic rock songs and why is John Boy and Billy leaving the station they are on now? I travel to the area frequently and heard another station saying that they are switching. ???

after 10 years on WRQR, they wouldn't even allow NextMedia to negotiate a contract extension.

i don't wanna list dollar amounts...but they were already making more than local morning shows in the market...and now make more than a major market airstaff combined....while remaining syndicated, voicetracking all shows, ect

That's because they can still hear them on another station. Don't kid yourself. WRQR is crap compared to what it once was. A truly proud heritage rock station that is a shell of it's former self. And the new voice guy?!? Wow, he stinks! Why did you guys drop the Fox TV guy? That guy's voice makes your new voice guy sound like a child.

The Bone is 100X the rock station RQR is now a days. Very very sad. Rock 1045 used to own that town, as far as classic rock goes.
 
Did Clear Channel take them over and start doing what they did to RDU? More Corporate radio with their tired playlist of safe songs and a cheaper voice guy? What happened? ???
 
Sounds like Vedder didn't get a gig at WRQR

NOTHING has changed musically with WRQR in a YEAR....and for that year they have been #1

The prod kicks the crap out of anything on the bone....and Rock doesn't play all that unfamiliar crap

Not in the latest ratings. The Bone tanked. They'll be out of the format by this time next year.....

Tied for 10th 12+ with WAAV

Tied for 6th M 25-54 with Coast, Jammin, and Will

Stellar! Play some more of them deep cuts
 
That unfamiliar crap is why satellite is growing - at least that is why I have it. I'm tired of the same classic rock "hits" over and over. The Stones have more than 5 good songs - too bad no one plays them anymore.
 
All I know is that WRQR is the last vestage of the old WQDR in Raleigh as it was owned by Carl Venters. Next Media bought it.. and nutered it. I wouldnt be suprised if it the next station in the group to go play Next Medias Favorite Game..

Look for some spanish tunes out of Sea Comm...that is where the next flip will happen....

Next has 5 of the top 10 stations in town...man they must be as stupid as everyone says

The Bone has genre confusion. Classic Rock, Classic Hits, Alternative, Reggae, Light AC....I could go on. And too bad they took a nose dive in the ratings you know since they are 100x better than RQR
