Foreigner was mentioned and most of the ACs now seem to be playing "Urgent".
Over the weekend, I heard "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" on that same station I mentioned, which during the day has been the more conservative of the two ACs. Since the station calling itself Lite has supposedly turned down the volume, and this station is more uptempo even during the day, I guess it's about even.
K-104.7. There is a classic rocker WRFX "The Fox" (seems to be doing well) and a station regarded as one of the best stations ever of its type. 95.7 the Ride, which isn't doing so well in the ratings partly because of the distance from Charlotte, which tries to be like album-oriented rock stations of the 70s and emphasizes progressive rock. There are even a few R & B tunes by black artists. But virtually no metal.Seltzer said:vchimpanzee said:Twenty years ago, when they were still supposedly playing Barry Manilow and The Carpenters, one AC station where I live was playing "I Can See for Miles" by The Who. What station and market is this? Is there a strong Classic Hits or Greatest Hits station in the market? Or a strong Classic Rocker?

I like Kelly Clarkson, I think she fits well on AC. She's had numerous AC hits:new_friends_gr said:I think you may be referring to "Behind These Hazel Eyes" by Kelly Clarkson. Her music definitely fits the Hot AC format, but she's had many singles that have become staples on mainstream AC stations, including this one.
I hear "Jesus, Take The Wheel" frequently on both AC stations in Greenville, SC.Seltzer said:Kelly, Carrie Underwood, and Daughtry are truly the stars who have made it from American Idol. David Cook is on his way as is Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.
Interesting Carrie is one of the favorite artists of Mainstream A/C women over the age of 40. Yet, she has had only one A/C hit in that Cheating song. Here's a case where programmers should be looking for material to play. Jesus Take The Wheel, Temporary Home, and All American Girl all would have worked. They tried crossing Cowboy Casanova but it didn't work. Undo It though may cross.
Yes, those were big hits. Jordan had a pretty successful duet with Chris Brown..No Air also. So far, Elliott & David A have been one hit wonders. I still think David Cook has a future ahead of him.carolinaradio said:I hear "Jesus, Take The Wheel" frequently on both AC stations in Greenville, SC. I wonder if David Cook will have any more big AC hits- his songs after "Time Of My Life" seemed to be edgier and didn't do too well for AC. Still, nothing can top Daughtry, Underwood, and Clarkson....I think they will always be the most successful 'Idols.' Some of the others have had some crossover success to AC, Elliott Yamin's "Wait For You", David Archuleta "Crush" and Jordin Sparks "Tattoo" all come to mind, but I don't hear them much anymore.

Thanks. I'll check that out. I don't go to lyrics sites at home, with good reason.new_friends_gr said:vchimpanzee said:But the next song sounded to me like it belonged on hot AC.
