Classic Rock war!

It seems like KKRW The Arrow 93.7 is starting to fight back Vs The Eagle. Now they are saying THE ARROW NOW WITH 53 MINUTES OF COMMERCIAL FREE MUSIC. Just like the Eagle was saying before 52 Minutes, im my OPINION I think the arrow will find a way to over come the Eagle.

Other than Colonel Saint James, both stations mostly suck. Classic rock from a 300 song playlist. My iPod can do better than that.

The last time I posted on the classic rock battle, I used Hotel California as an example of the small playlist. What was the next song they played? Hotel California! Either they are psychic or read my post and interpreted it as a request! Needless to say - I was on Sirius XM immediately after hearing that tired old worn out song off their 300 song playlist. What station was it on? What does it matter, they are both the same.

Both stations neglect good 80s rock. Though The Eagle throws in 80s, it's the same Def Leppard, GNR, Bon Jovi crap we hear anywhere. I'm done with classic rock stations. 60s-80s rock is more enjoable in album form anyways. Classic rock stations should not be treated like top 40 stations.

thing about it though...is go to a pool hall or neighborhood bar and watch what a 44 year old guy plays on the jukebox....It's not the 4th cut off side 2 of _____ whatever album released in 1976. It's "Juke Box Hero", "HOtel California", "Black Dog", etc etc.

Well...granted that jukeboxes are full of "greatest hits" albums (even the digital ones), there's not much choice unless you are willing to pay a dollar fifty to hear a song not in the jukebox's hard drive.

Anyways, 53 minutes? How lazy and unimaginative. That's like using "your mama" as a comback. What did they do to squeeze in the extra minute? Play the full version of Lyin' Eyes?

A juke box has an even more limited play list than our two classic rock stations. But not by much.

All those artists are good the Eagles,Moody Blues,Def Leppard,ZZ Top

Yes - they are, but --- how come every time I listen to the Arrow for more than 30 minutes at a time, I hear "Hotel California"? You would think it was a current top 40 and I was listening to Hot 95.7 as often as they play that worn out thing. And when will that satanic sacrifice be stabbed enough with the steely knives? Egad - I know the lyrics by heart! OK, Arrow, interpret this post as a request for the worn out old song. There are so many other great cuts on that album. There are so many other great cuts off "Even in the Quietest Moment" than "Goodbye Stranger". There are so many other good cuts from the Moody Blues, ZZ Top, etc. They always play the same ones! I'd rather hear something that didn't chart as well in the 70's once in a while. That was the era of whole albums being good - and whole album plays at midnight on KLOL and KAUM.

Ah the good old days when the PD and GM went to bed and we could play whatever we wanted. Many an album tracked while taking a bathroom break or going down to the hamburger stand for a bite. That's how we all came to know and love the cuts that never charted.

I agree...we all didn't live in cookie cutter houses that were 4 feet from the one next door...We got better service at Western Auto than at Wal Mart...I could actually work on my car under the shade tree...and people actually cooked dinner and sat down to eat it. But times have changed. If you don't recognize a song, you flip stations. Plain and simple.

I don't see that following - I hear a song I've heard over and over again, I moan and immediately change the channel. Repetition is for kids listening to Hannah Montana or teens listening to Black Eyed Peas. Repetition doesn't play well to the classic rock audience.

ummmm...yes it does. Most of us on here are a tad more educated about the bands and music than Joe Blow Listener. It's not very exciting, but you will appeal to a MUCH broader audience by playing the hits. I wish to Gawd I didn't know "Carry On My Wayward Son" is 5mins 26 secs long. It doesn't make it right...or better...or cooler....but you'll lose a LOT more listeners than you gain by goin too deep. I would MUCH rather hear even "Ten Years Gone" or "Achilles Last Stand" instead of "Black Dog"...but it ain't happening.

I have been swithing from the ARROW to the EAGLE at 9:00 and today they were both playing Baby I'M Amazed by Paul McCartney, this is the second time this has happened last time it was Elton John. When will Houston get the rock station they deserve

Why don't they just consolidate programming while they are at it - it would save money for both stations! Hey - NPR and various religious broadcasters have been doing this for years - the same thing shows up several places on the dial ----

I've ran across that same thing several times while switching channels between the two. I guess that's corporate radio for ya!

poops

Didn't the Arrow get the top of the rankings the past several years by not being the repetitious Top 40-type station it is now?! Damn shame they became this.
