A workmate from the station I work is also responsible for the tech assemble set-up of several other stations, different formats. The latest one is a franchising of the french Nostalgie (Lisbon, Portugal, 90.4).
I've listened to it and as soon I could I rang him congratulating him for the sound processing. I congratulated him for using a setting that kept the dynamics of the music, analogue feel. I didn't ear such processing for years. Simply simple! My ears thanked...
Am I getting old or am I fed up of the broadcast loudness wars? I guess it's both.
My workmate told me that on that station people who work there criticized him for not sound like the others do. LOUD... The frenchies understood and support him. The native Nostalgie use high-compressed processing, wich to my ears sound... wierd on that format...
I hope the Lisbon Nostalgie keeps the current setting!
If you wanna check and give your opinion:
