Classic TV Shows That You Want Released On DVD?

What classic TV show(s) do you want released on DVD? My nomination is Small Wonder. It was a show that was produced from 1985 to 1989 about a family with a robot daughter. (This show aired in reruns on my local Fox affiliate, KTTV Ch. 11/Los Angeles, until 1996).

WKRP in Cincinnati (1978-1982)Mama's Family (1982-1990)Teen Wolf (1986-1988)"WKRP" will likely never be released on DVD, due to the music licensing issue.

Emergency! Season 1 including the pilot movie is already out. I'm a Jack Webb fan and have that as well as the first season of Adam 12 and Dragnet, not to mention the old 50's film versions of Dragnet that were on TV.

I wonder why we haven't heard about the 2nd seasons of both Adam-12 and Dragnet(which would be Dragnet 1968) coming out on DVD. It has been nearly a year since both of these shows have come out on DVD.

Thanks for the tip. I had no idea about Emergency! having the second season already on the shelves.Like you, I too am curious why no second Adam-12 or Dragnet releases

If that's not a memory flogger, nothing is!I remember it quite well and thought it was somewhat ahead of it's time .... then again, look at Knight Rider!

No, but DC Comics, owned by Time Warner, owns the characters, and that's where the rights problems kick in.

WKRP is already out. Google it, and you should find the link selling it. And yes, there are music issues. Some of the music you heard has been dubbed over -- I was told by a co-worker that in one episode -- the one in which a Russian dissident falls in love with Bailey Quarters -- his line "hold me closer tiny dancer" is dubbed over with something else!I see "the Midnight Special" is finally out on DVD. I've been waiting for years for that one! Excellent show. I think I'd like to see the all-time classic TV live dramas on a DVD set -- Marty, Patterns, Requiem for a heavyweight -- later stuff form the late 50's...Maybe a compilation of movie stars' first time on TV from late 40's/early 50's... Or how about the color Howdy Doody shows? From the videotape, still in color? Odd Couple -- yes, that's a good one. Definitely. That show never jumped the shark.Taxi -- another good one.

Is this Canada and/or overseas about WKRP In Cincinatti being on DVD because the DVD's aren't being sold in the United States? Now I do know that WKRP has been sold on VHS,they were sold sometime during the early 90's and I have the pilot episode along with the Thanksgiving episode. I hope that they are not bootleg copies of WKRP on DVD that someone has taped off of TV.The 1976-1977 Howdy Doody shows are on DVD. I got mine through Publisher's Clearing House but I haven't seen them in stores.Taxi is already out on DVD. In fact, the first 3 seasons are on DVD.

I think they're more like bootlegs -- they are sold at sites like dvdavenue, raredvds and 123procopy, and they're all offering all 90 episodes for an outrageously low price (123procopy's $39.99 for the entire set). If WKRP was legally out, you see places like Best Buy and Amazon offer them. Buyer beware, especially since there's no guarantee that the original music would come with it.

Places like Best Buy aned Suncoast also sold this DVD set; you just have to look around.

I would love to see Fridays come out on DVD. Yeah, I am pretty sure some of humor hasn't aged well ( Ronald Reagan stuff, drug jokes, etc...) but then again a lot of it can be said with Saturday Night Live and that show has been available in reruns for years.I heard that one reason why Fridays isn't available was due to Lorne Michaels buying the rights years ago just to mothball the show so people would watch his Saturday Night Live and well forget about Fridays. I also heard another story is that Fridays star ( and future Seinfeld star ) Michael Richards has a role in this as well.oh...those cheesy, old made for Tv movies from the 70s. Bad Ronald, Pray For the Wildcats, Curse of the Black Widow, Smash Up in Interstate 5, etc..I would love to see them on DVD, not some low quality bootleg copy someone taped off of TV years ago and selling them for some huge amount on ebay or whatever.and there is Turn-On !! The 1969 ABC Laugh-In ripoff that was so bad it was cancelled the day after ( some say minutes ) the first broadcast. True, it was reported that as part of a "settlement" all the Turn-On episodes ( I think 4 were taped ) were to be locked awayand never been seen again. I guess this agreement has since lapsed since Iheard you can see the show at the Mueseum of TV and Radio in both NYC amd LA.Real People and Thats Incredible...I wouldn't mind seeing these shows on DVD either.

"Quote:The 1976-1977 Howdy Doody shows are on DVD. I got mine through Publisher's Clearing House but I haven't seen them in stores."Sorry, I was referring to the color shows from the 50's. I don't even know how many exist still on videotape.

Police Squad, from what I hear through thedigitalbits.com, is due later this year......now if maybe Paramount would do a special edition set of the three Naked Gun movies like they did with Airplane.

The F.B.I.
Bronco
Maverick
Harry O
The Streets of San Francisco
Sugarfoot
77 Sunset Strip
Hawaiian Eye
Surfside 6

If this only pertains to prime time TV then my vote would go for "WKRP" which of course until the music licensing issue gets solved.........

Otherwise, I saw someone mention somewhere that tapes of Tom Snyder's Tomorrow Show exist somewhere, therefore I would like to see those issued. Of course, it could be done the same way as the Carson Show, the Cavett Show, and Merv Griffin's show...do them as "best of...."

Just a thought

Mike
