There is a bootleg WKRP 18 disc set floating around which contains the original music. The source tapes for the discs were VHS recordings from WGN in the mid-eighties. These were the first syndication run episodes, so they are shortened by about 2 minutes, but original music is intact. The quality is good (considering the source), and this may be the only way to see the show (almost) as it originally aired for the foreseeable future.
The later syndication run episodes (shown on TNN and TV Land) were badly butchered. Music was replaced with generic "stock" music, and in some cases dialogue had to be redubbed. Even lines were changed. (In an ep where a Russian defector says "Hold me closer, tiny dancer" the line was changed to "Hold my order, terrible dresser"!). This may explain why more recent airings of the show have been short-lived.
