ClassX going to next level!!

Still waiting on that resume Mr. Elephant! In the meantime, change has begun on ClassX! Details at classxradio.com, the home of 6.5 million hits last month!!

lol how did "being different" work for WOXY?

Just saying, bad example.

WOXY Listeners, Fans and Friends...

Due to current economic realities and the lack of ongoing funding for WOXY's operations, we've been forced to suspend our live broadcasts as of March 23rd. We're continuing to explore options to keep The Future of Rock and Roll alive. For business inquiries, please contact Bryan Jay ([email protected]).

Thanks for your years of dedicated support.

97X BAAAAAM.... The Future of Rock and Roll!

1. They were popular enough to get a mention in the movie Rain Man
2. They lost their air signal, sold out, that's why they are no longer around

I'm not speaking of their internet station, but their air.

Maybe they were not #1, but they had a huge, very satisfied audience. That's all ClassX is trying to do.

WOXY lost their air signal because its owners decided to sell the station and retire to New Mexico. The Internet station has had unstable ownership with 3 different owners not knowing how to monetize it since the format is extremely niche. Much more so than ClassX.

Changes at ClassX have been underway. One of them includes a new morning show, starting Monday, July 5th with "The Alex Show", various other changes, and the return of classic features from the traditional days of AOR.

I'll listen for any changes but to me ClassX has been a big disappointment. The signal is crappy in nearly all areas east of 75 and north of 275. And the sound is way, way too heavy on 80s-style hair bands. Cheesy and irritating. Nothing "classy" or "classic" about most of the music at all.

Frankly the sound of the station kicks butt. The music is far better than anything else on the dial. They are strong on the west side of Cincinnati and in NKY. Hoping that this new 89.1 will get better coverage on the southeast side.

I just wanted to post and say how great of a broadcaster Randy Michaels is and was. And how much I learned from him, and never forgot.

Nobody at Clear Channel is jealous. You guys do not in any way compete with WEBN.

Nobody at Cumulus is jealous. You guys in no way compete with The FOX.

Nobody at Bonneville is jealous. Nobody at Radio One is jealous.

How telling that one of the posters said they couldn't get a PAID job at a local company, but was able to get a VOLUNTEER position at ClassX.

You guys have fun. You're not a factor. I hope you have lots of success playing because you don't have any idea what it's all about to be a professional broadcaster whose livelihood depends on ratings and revenue. You would never make it. I'm sure that makes you feel somehow noble that you're "above it all."

Mr. Elephant, until you post or indicate that you are in fact in the radio business, and support it by even a mention of any market you've worked in, then we continue to know this fact.

"That I've spent more time on a toilet, then you have in a radio station"

In the meantime, someone, or anyone you know needs to call Randy Michaels, and pick his brain for any and all of his knowledge from the past.

And I've been driving ratings and revenue for 32 years. Please feel free to send me your resume, and I'll see if we have a volunteer position for you too.

Yeah I offered to listen to any constructive criticism Mr or Ms. Elephant had to offer. Told him what time I'm on the air and everything. I guess he couldn't get off the fry line long enough to give me a call.

Too bad. I even brought peanuts.

C'mon you guys. Don't you realize that the Big Elephant Man has spoken? He has all of the answers. He has been trained by Corporate Radio into their way of thinking and their way of reaching the largest audience at the expense of shrinking the core audience numbers (that he won't talk about). Now bow down and accept his influence. You know that he is right, don't ya?

Really! Not everyone wants to hear the same 20 over and over (nauseating). That's is what Corporate is missing. Their theories have flaws. Non commercial Radio should not be about money. It should be about pleasing their audience, no matter how large or small it is. ClassX pleases their audience. Now pass the Beer!

Class-X sure is touchy when it comes to criticism. Congratulations then, Class-X, you have the most perfect radio station in the world! Seriously, your format would not last if you had to be concerned with advertisers and demographics. I expect a negative comment from someone at Class-X again. By the way, I am no fan of Clear Channel or Cumulus, but if you guys lived in the real world, and had to compete for advertising dollars, your format would be much stricter regarding the music being played

Not touchy. Just tired of criticism from people who don't listen and because they don't listen don't really know what we are about, what we play, etc. All of the criticisms here have been inaccurate in describing our format so far. Anyone else wanna try? Wait, before you try, LISTEN!

Hey just want to say thanks for the insulting comments. I've WORKED in the Cincinnati Media and have been in and involved with Professional Broadcasting as you so bluntly put it, both from a profit AND non-profit point of view. I've been in this city for 15 years, thank you very much. Granted my day job is doing behind the scenes A/V production/media staging.. I do the stuff with ClassX in my free time. I've been in front of and behind the camera as well as a board op/producer/host. I've also done free lance work for all the big TV networks as well.

Where is your experience again? Oh that's right...non existant. Let's see some experience Elephant. Until you post some credentials; everything you say carries the weight of a grain of salt.

Definately a quote from a Corporate Suit? Am I right?

As I said, you are touchy, nope I do not even work in radio, I work for the federal government.

Nothing touchy here. Just waiting for the call to take the constructive criticism in person. As of yet, it hasn't come.

I'll be on today at three. Now if you don't like the music, there is nothing I can do about that. You either like it or you don't. I welcome your comments about my performance, though. We can all always be better.

Oh and you're right...we're not competing for advertising dollars. Kinda what being non-commercial is all about.

I for one take constructive criticism very well, and certainly listen. However, what I don't take is bashing from people not in the radio business.

All I ask is that you take some serious time to listen to us, then add your thoughts here. Next week begins more new changes to ClassX. Don't judge us from before, listen to us in the coming weeks and months.

But also keep in mind, that its a staff of dedicated volunteers, who work very hard. The one thing that ClassX has over any corporate station in the market is passion. Something lost in the radio business in the last ten years.

As a ex-radio professional (now an executive in sales/marketing), I'd say the passion has been gone for over 20 years - that's why I got out of the business. I still follow radio and always will.
