Clear Channel Advertising on-air for Interns

I guess all the layoffs are starting to take a toll in the Granite Ridge building. A very quick spot on Channel 9-3-3 at 5:30p today asked "hard-working" individuals to apply to be an intern at Clear Channel. I guess they need more people at the front desk and out at remotes and appearances. Guess that's what happens when the higher-ups are overpaid and there's no budget for staffing vital positions like promotions, operations, and clerical work.

You must have missed the beginning of the spot! High Power transmitter experience required!! Its for a transmitter engineer intern. You have to replace plate transformers, replace tubes, and install transmission line on towers. One week experience on transmitters required.

The homeless woman that talks to herself, and throws cats is the new on-air intern/personality on Channel 933!

Sad they lay off loyal hard working veterans for interns. Just shows they dont care about quality or building the stations for the future.

Welcome to Bain and associates their motto "A month with us is like a lifetime!" You just thought it was "Cheap Channel" before Bain will teach you a thing or two. They are experienced broadcasters after all they own Super Cuts.

The radio stations owned by Clear channel in San Diego have always advertised for interns. This has nothing to do with economics.

screw interns, they SHOULD advertise for real radio-programmers
the problem is not the transmitter, it's what comes out of it

I think they should give a couple interns a shot at the KGB PM drive show: they certainly could not do worse than BC and Clint.

haha!

start a new format intern radio have all on air shifts done by interns.......save even nore money that way

Q-tip with the exception of KFMB-FM's mornings and KOGO's middays, and KyXy's lineup San Diego radio is already there! All interns all the time. Thats all Rock 105.3, KMYI, KUSS, and KHTS are now!

That's really not fair to the many hard working radio professionals at the stations you mention including CC. While some may not feel the quality of the entertainment is up to their standards .....everybody has to start somewhere at some level and thank god there are people who care to learn, pay their dues, make mistakes first as interns and then as young professionals. Many of them have gone on to be very good. AJ, Delana, Cindy Spicer, Geoff Alan, Bryan Schock, Coe Lewis and so on.....there are many more.
While I certainly can understand the frustration of many of the moves that many radio companies have made ....and many of them have not been the best for the industry....there are still many talented people working real hard and giving it everything they have with passion and talent.
