Clear Channel and Groove Radio

Yesterday CC flipped 105.7 in Atlanta to Groove 105.7. It is a rhythmic CHR station mixing current day and back in the day dance and top 40. The first hour included...

The first hour:

"Into the Groove" by Madonna (1985)
"Shake Your Groove Thing" by Peaches & Herb (1978)
"Groove is in the Heart" by Dee-Lite (1990)
"Let's Groove" by Earth , Wind & Fire (1981)
And the first song without the word "groove" in it: "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce (2003)
"Stayin' Alive" by Bee Gees (1977)
"Gonna Make You Sweat" by C&C Music Factory (1990)
"I Gotta Feeling," Black Eyed Peas (2009)
"Don't Stop Til You Get Enough" Michael Jackson (1980)
"Rock Your Body" Justin Timberlake (2003)
"Let the Music Play" Shannon (1984)
"Best of My Love" the Emotions (1977)
"Just Dance' Lady GaGa (2008)
"When Doves Cry" Prince (1984)

My question is would there be a chance they might do the same thing here in D/FW or would it pull too much from KISS FM?

No chance, DFW tried that already with MOVIN didn't work.

DFW is a totally different market..to bad corps dont think that way anymore

it might work say on 97.1 if they promoted it and did it differntly than "Movin" did. The paly list does not look bad and I don't think it would hurt "KISS" at all. I don't think it would hurt to change "The Eagle". It is dismal in the ratings. it jsut depends on how it bills. I think the "Groovin" format if done right would sell. it si going after the demo's that advertisers want, as where "The Eagle" is a male dominated format. I say give it a try.

Last 10 Played... (now that's variety!)

1. Sugarhill Gang - Rapper's Delight
2. Britney Spears - Toxic
3. K-ci & Jojo - All My Life
4. Donna Summer - On The Radio
5. Black Eyed Peas - Boom Boom Pow
6. Heavy D & The Boyz - Now That We Found Love
7. Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - December 1963
8. Amber - This Is Your Night
9. Justin Timberlake - Lovestoned
10. Soft Cell - Tainted Love

And they are playing David Guetta, Cascada and Kim Sozzi...

The Eagle isn't going anywhere, forgot it about this format coming to DFW because it won't work. MOVIN tried it, didn't work & KDL tried it, didn't work either.

"The Eagle" is not setting the woods on fire and I can't believe they can sell it. Male rock does not sell anymore, that is not what the advertisers want. Clear Channel is using 97.1 as a tax write off, so you may be right, "The Eagle" isn't going anywhere. Still a bad station that has few listeners.

I agree with radioaircheck... Movin was poorly run and poorly promoted... KDL was a great station but the signal was awful at best and they had no morning show. I think Groove 97.1 could work. Certainly better than the mess that is on there now. Lex & Terry and tired arena rock doesn't cut it.
