Clear Channel Atlanta - can't ignore their success

I dont work for Clear Channel, dont have any friends there and fondly remember a world manned by live mid-day jocks but...

Other than WGST, 2005 was a slam dunk for Clear Channel Atlanta. Think of where they were approx. 12 months ago. 96 was in free fall, Lite's playlist was even worse than B98.5s and Gene/Julie was the face of the station. The 105.3 and 105.7 frequencies were haunted after Cool 105.7 and RealRadio 105.3 spectacularly failed. Now...

96 Rock has reversed course in a big way.
Lite - Christmas stunting notwithstanding - sounds a TON better and has a 5.4 share. I bet Lite's profit in 2006 will be obscene. Not a single live jock after lunch!!!
The Buzz - which I thought was a turkey - is within range of Dave and X. Still early, but an unthinkable feat 12 months ago.
Viva, while off, must still be printing money (and has the greatest morning show name I've ever heard - "Yogi and Panda")
Even GST, for all of its morning problems, is comfortably pulling a mid 2.

I'm betting we see a lot of advertising/promotion for all of these stations in 2006 and the trend continues.

Definitely begs the question: is Jerry Del Core that good or was Tim Dukes that bad?

Pretty cogent analysis, if you ask me. And that's a former CC-Atlanta employee talkin'.

I submit to you that it's the former; Tim Dukes has made some smart moves at The Loop (WLUP) in Chicago, most notably bringing back Jonathan Brandmeier.

Yeah right, 96 Rock has reversed it's course and Delta airline stock is only 97% away from IT'S`all time high.

They were not as bad as everyone made them out to be...but then again, they were never quite as good as they needed to be. Hope they land on there feet somewhere.<P ID="signature">______________
