CLEAR CHANNEL BANGOR/AUGUSTA

All Clear Channel stations in Maine have just been purchased by BLUEBERRY ADVERTISING. There should be a press release coming very soon. THe Zone Corp and Cumulus in Bangor better be ready for a fight. They haven't had to worry about much in the way of comptetition for many years.

Guess I'm old and out of the loop. Who IS Blueberry Advertising? And why do you think they'll give Cumulus and Zone a good fight? Not that I don't mind a good fight, mind you. :)

My guess as why they will give a good fight is because it's locally owned radio again. Corporations should have never gotten into the small and medium market radio game.

My information may be wrong, but I heard today that Blueberry is a new company headed up by Lou Vitale, the former WBACH owner. (My apologies to everyone if this is not correct.)

Local ownership of the Clear Channel stations could certainly intensify competition. But I'd gamble that Zone and Cumulus are girded for the battle; both of those companies have been acting like local companies in the way that they have operated their stations.

will be interesting.
Some work to do.
kiss is sounding better. The fox was sounding good but is now way too young.
WVOM? do they keep Hale and Tyler? and U maine sports?
WABI AM? why waste the electricity?

musically kiss is sounding better, the imaging sounds fairly simple.......the ratings show a downturn with the fox and it's reimage
'VOM wouldn't get rid of Hale, there'd be an uprising in Bangor
and they waste the electricity on AM 910 because it's George Hale's baby (see above)

First - you are correct. Louis Vitale is one of the key partners of this purchase.

Second - let's get clear on what this means. Cumulus, Citadel or The Zone Corp have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to worry about. Whoever is currently employed at the radio stations. GOOD LUCK.

There is no one more cheap than I have encountered in 30 years in this state than the new ownership group of Clear Channel Augusta and what ever stations they close on in Bangor

CHEAP BEYOND BELIEF. It will make you long for corporate conglomerates.

CHEAP actually does this no justice. They will absolutely not sink one penny into those properties will out reducing it by ten pennies first.

Health Insurance - lol...lol...lol...lol...lol.. 401k Plan...lol...lol...lol....lol....lol....

Marketing $$$$ - huh, huh, huh......

Adbuyer....Do you know the facts or are they just assumptions? I've heard mixed reactions...everything from the new owners are ready to spend big bucks in Bangor...to what you said...being complete, mindless cheapskates. I hope the Zone and Cumulus in Bangor have nothing to worry about. They are good people doing a good job with some great, local radio stations.

Curb:

If the buyers are who we both understand them to be then there are no assumptions. They have a previous and very well established track record and way of operating. They owned (both of them) radio stations in Maine. How they operated is very clear and well documented. I think your "mindless" comment would be a complement.

Adbuyer...I hope you are a better "ad buyer" than lingusit. I think the word you were searching for in you ad hominem attack upon "Curb" was COMPLIMENT not COMPLEMENT.
