Clear Channel Beaumont

So any word on all the cuts from Clear Channel in Beaumont?

I hear KYKR's afternooner Jim King is out as well as Big Dog KIOC's mid-day guy. Not sure who he was. Also part-timers and their engeineer. I am surprised that CC Beaumont still HAD part timers. I thought most all CC clusters had gotten rid of them long ago.

As far as I know the engineer was the only one they had. How much sense does it make to get rid of the engineer?? Crap, the tower's out, let's call the eng... umm, nevermind, let's call Houston's engineer, he can get to it in the next 3 hours IF he doesn't have anything else going on in Houston that needs his immediate attention.

Today I heard what must be the use of the new CC news hub from Houston. The 'local' news had a distinctively Houston bent, as it seemed to come from KTRH in Houston's personnel.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least bit. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see KLVI and KTRH become one in the same down the road. There is just no focus whatsoever paid to the Triangle these days, and it certainly would save some of the almighty dollar to simply combine them into one station.

Your analysis is quite correct. Much of the syndicated programming carried by both is the same, and you could cut the KLVI local on-air staff (what's left of it) or keep them to feed local news items to the CC Houston new hub.
