Yes, it's becoming an annual event at this time of year at CC stations. Here's today's followup:
"The Clear Channel budget reaper claims bodies in Houston, Dallas, Detroit, Youngstown…
Adding onto the year-end people/cost-cutting T-R-I told you about yesterday in the Twin Cities (John Hines, Dan Culhane and Jason Nagel all getting riffed) – there are new reports from other CC clusters. There’s Houston, for instance, where CC AM Director of AM Programming Michael Berry will end his workday with a new 5-8pm talkshow on KTRH (740). That’s necessitated by the involuntary exit of PM driver Chris Baker, who’d also been co-hosting a show in sister KPRC (950) with Cynthia Hunt. And yes, Cynthia’s gone, too. In Dallas, KHKS (106.1) personalities Cruz (middays) and Gina Lee Fuentez (late nights) are on the sidewalk – replaced by voicetracking at the #3-ranked “Kiss.” In Detroit, the Free Press says morning show hosts Jamie Samuelson and Greg Brady are gone, along with sports reporter Matt Shepard. And in Youngstown, WKBN (570) afternoon co-host Casey Malone, WBBG (106.1) middayer Jerry Goddard and engineer Matt Heim are all gone, effective immediately. See any kind of trend there? "
