Clear Channel Countdown?

Is the clock is ticking on Clear Channel? Bloomberg reports that "Clear Channel's interest expenses have surpassed its operating income in every quarter since the end of 2008." They're trying to refinance $1-BILLION in debt, offering to double the interest in order to extend the term.

They are buying time, hoping that a new media metamorphosis will happen before the terrestrial side dies off or is burred in debt.

And I really believe they'd like to attract foreign investors once the ownership laws are relaxed.

If the clock is ticking, they're doing everything they can to kick the can down the road. Not unlike the folks in DC.

The difference being of course, that the population of the U.S. is growing and growing and many people around the world would still love to live and work here. Translation: Mucho staying power.

And then there's the increasingly irrelevant terrestrial radio.

Hmmm, who has a brighter future: The U.S. or Clear Channel? Let's ponder that....lol.
