Why has it taken Clear Channel so long in trying some sort of Country format in DFW out? Just look at some surrounding markets in Texas:
Brownsville- KTEX 100.3 Clear Channel
KRYS 99.1- Corpus Christi
KAJA 97.3 San Antonio
Austin - KVET 98.1/KASE 100.7
WACO- WACO 100 (99.9)
Abilene - KEAN 105.1
Wichita Falls - Lone Star 102.3
Amarillo- KMML 96.9
KHEY 96.3 El Paso
KLLL 96.3 Lubbock
Kicks 105.1 - Lufkin
KNUE 101.5- Tyler
Oklahoma City- 101.9 The Twister/ 96.1 KXY (OKLAHOMA)
So is Clear Channel eyeing a Country take-over in DFW...could they smell blood considering both The Wolf is weak, KSCS is stale, KTFW is signal challenged, The Possum is signal challenged, 1190 is signal challenged and yes the Bone too even though it is Classic Rock. I predict Clear Channel is preparing a KVET format to develop first and then maybe two years or so...maybe sooner launching a mainstream Country to compliment KZPS. We could be looking at a completely different Country station landscape in 3 or 4 years if my hunch is right.
