I was sorry to read of longtime WKBN/570 News Director John Nagy's unceremonious dumping by CC. Too bad. John was one of the few stable elements in the business around Y-town, and practically the only one giving radio news the time of day in the market. 40 years with the station and he's gone? I understand corporate decisions mandated this cut and many others, but couldn't Nagy have been given an opportunity to work until his retirement? Its couldn't have been that far off, right?
I also feel for Dan Gonder, Sean Stevens and Lorraine Hall, who all got the pink slip. Lorraine's a solid worker who I worked alongside of in a previous broadcast life. Dan was great behind the mic, and had a smooth easygoing approach to his shift on Mix 98.9. They'll all be missed.
Here's hoping you all land on your feet.
