That's a shame. Sylvia always seems like a good person - she doesn't deserve to be unemployed - like millions of other suddenly unemployed Americans during this sad economic time.

I guess that would leave Don Bleu as the only live and local DJ on Star 101.3...and that's likely to be temporary given the cost of his contract to Clear Channel - and his stated desire to retire soon.

I checked out www.106kmel.com and Sana G is still listed on their website, as of this writing. But it is a real bummer about Sylvia Chacon. I hope she shows up somewhere else real soon. But with the state of the industry right now....who knows what will happen.

Sylvia Chacon, Yes. which sux because she was cool.
Sana G, Yes. Another real strong jock. I was always a fan. Still am. She was AWESOME at KMEL.

I never post- or even visit this site - but i had to give condolences to two other REAL hard workers who were also part of the C.C. 600, that otherwise would not get mentioned here.

Horace Wong, and Junior (Junior Fanta) Reyes

I hired both these guys as interns waaaaaay back in the day and since then they broke their backs for C.C. as street team, to van drivers, to running the Engineering dept of all places.

The behind the scenes guys / girls never get any credit but Horace and Junior deserve some.

Strawberry, you are so right. Both of those guys are class acts. Especially for being such young kids. Its the sad state of the industry. Sylvia has been on SF radio for more years than I can count. I remember when she was too just a kid up and coming. I sure hope she can land on her feet soon. She will be greatly missed while she's not on the air.

props to straw for mentioning these two guys... great guys and great friends... they did everything CC asked of them, including stuff that was CLEARly not part of their job description (replacing cement parkin bumps outside the building?? painting the whole sales floor walls?) They will be missed.

All good folks who were doing good jobs. Hope they all find a new home as quickly as possible! None were slackers or hard to get along with, and they were all doing multiple jobs.

So true. So completely true. I was drop-jawed and wordless yesterday to find out we'd lost these two excellent, tireless, cheerful pros. I'm so sorry, guys.

Add me to the countless colleagues who'd give you a 100% recommendation/reference to any radio gig, anywhere. Hell, any gig at all.

Good luck, guys. And to all in this increasingly sad business.
