Clear Channel Cuts

I read the national articles about Clear Channel cutting newsroom jobs nationwide. Does anyone know if there were any cuts in South Carolina?

I don't think WVOC in Columbia had any people to cut. 28 years ago they had a morning news person and an afternoon news person and one stringer. I doubt that Clear Channel staffed up when they bought it.

Just a wild guess but if cuts are coming, I would think they might be at WSCC and WVOC would do their local news. Citadel already does that, feeding WISW from their talker WTMA in Charleston. And if I'm not mistaken, Christopher Thompson at WVOC already does sports for WSCC.

I believe this is the only time I've ever seen these words used together.

Most Clear Channel stations that I know cut their news people several years ago. WESC/WMYI had newsmen, but I know that they were cut out around 2006. To my knowledge, they were never replaced....

as part of their layoffs in 2008, cc released news people in many markets and let the regular announcer tell what was happening. much like voice tracking for announcers i think they voice track the news too on stations where you hear it.

Kevin Cohen, Cohen, Cohen... He's a fake conservative just catering to his audience.

I think if you cut Kevin, you would have a massive outcry here in the Columbia area. If you have ever tried calling into that show, you will understand what i amtalking about, it is extremely popular. I would not classify him as a Rush Limbaugh conservative which frankly is refreshing, but he is not a liberal by any stretch of the imagination.

Please qualify this statement with details, please. Like ratings or advertiser satisfaction. Frankly, I have not heard the thunderous roars of approval that you speak of for this show from the masses.

When I have had the misfortune to tune into Keven Cohen, my impression is that he is repeating whatever he heard on Fox News, Hannity, and Limbaugh. He comes across like he has nary a thought in his head and an inability to grasp and master the issues of the day.

let's see they could cut Keven Cohen. I think he's pathetic. Does anybody really listen to him? They could plug in somebody satellite driven to replace him. Michael Medved is live from 3 to 6. I also think WVOC could do away with David Barbosa. Michael Smerconish might work in the AM. Bring aboard "tumbleweed" to do news cut ins. Otherwise people doing double or sometimes triple duty.
