Clear Channel Entertainment Spin-off

I just got this e-mail from my one my biggest of bosses:

Good afternoon,

I am pleased to announce that we have completed a significant step in our previously announced strategic realignment plan. Earlier today, Clear Channel Entertainment was spun-off from Clear Channel Communications and re-named Live Nation. As of today, Live Nation is now a completely separate company from Clear Channel, with a new board of directors and an independent management team. Tomorrow morning, Live Nation begins trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "LYV".

This is a new day for Live Nation. As an independent public company they will have enhanced flexibility to pursue their exciting growth initiatives. I would like to personally thank all the great employees of Clear Channel Entertainment-- now Live Nation -- for their contributions to our company over the past five years. Please join in me in wishing them all the best.

Sincerely,
Mark (Mays)

For about two minutes, I thought my e-mail address was going to have to change, but then I realized that Clear Channel Entertainment is the concert promotion side of the business. I still work for Clear Channel Broadcasting.

I'm glad Clear Channel finally got rid of this whole expensive ill-advised acquisition. However, I hate the name "Live Nation". Being the cynical S.O.B. that I am, my first thought is that they chose the name because they thought LYV would be a cool stock symbol.
