Clear Channel Eyes One-Second Radio Spots

Doesnt sound much different than what small-market radio has been doing for years..."Its 550pm and time to check out Harry Dawg Chevrolet"

... (from the 60s)...

"Eleven-Ten - WBT Charlotte. 8 O'clock. Park 'n' Shop time! Grade A Spuds 15 cents a pound at Park 'n' Shop!" (continue into CBS news)

(ok a little more than a second. lol)

OK, Quiz time now, since you have jogged my memory with that bit:

Who was the voice of the Park 'n' Shop ads on radio and tv?

There was only one voice who could pull that off in the Charlotte market, he was on radio and TV, who was it?

He wore many different hats on tv (hint).

I don't know how I missed this reply all the way from JULY... but if you're still on... is it Jim Patterson?

I'm old enough to remember "King Edward Cigar time...9 0'clock" on WWL in New Orleans

You betcha it was!

What a super talent he was, and how much he is missed.

Current Charlotte talents who come close are James K Flynn, and my lod friend John Causby.

You can hear both of them and a lot of other great Charlotte area voice and voice over talent at:

http://www.groundcrewstudios.com/v2/

Click on Talent from that link, and especially listen to the character voices for Flynn and Causby.

And I used to give the "Childre Chevrolet time" on the :00, :15, :30 and:45 on CHK in Canton in the 70's.

Anyone else ever work under Byron Dobbs?
