Clear Channel has a translator in the Triangle now??

OK, I have an inqury to those who may know something about this.
I was on Radio Locator's website and noticed that they had an entry for WDCG to broadcast on 95.3 as well as 105.1 ???

From what I have gathered on that site and the FCC, it looks like CC-Raleigh is moving the translator for HIS Radio on 95.3 from Clayton to the top of the CC stick off hwy 1 in Apex/Cary and upping the output to 250 watts.... Nothing in the FCC database shows an update for this.

My question is if it's a fallacy on the Radio Locator's site or is CC about to do something?? -I can check the coverage and see what they signal is putting out this evening when I pass through, but hoping that someone can tell me what's going on here or if Raleigh is about to get another top 40 FM on two frequencies....

They also recently bought a Sanford translator, W270AW, from K-Love owner EMF Broadcasting. Both of these will likely air some sort of HD-2 programming. This is happening more and more, buy an existing translator and use the max allowed ERP for translators (250 watts depending on the height) either to get an AM station onto the FM dial or effectively add additional FM outlet without buying or building (if frequencies are available--in the RDU market, they're not--and you can afford the auction process) a full-power station.
 
Looks like HIS Radio is making some other translator moves. Several are redundant ones they established before getting 88.5 FM and moving closer in from Roanoke Rapids to Franklinton. Perhaps they're shopping them to clusters and AMs.

*Morrisville's W256AX (99.1) is now on 99.3 as W257CS with much reduced power (now just 2 watts ERP compared to the 27 watts they used to have).

*Creedmoor-licensed W256AH has a CP to move to Signal Hill in northwestern Durham County, relicense as a Durham translator and boost their power to 250 watts (the CP says they will be rebroadcasting the HD2 channel of WRVA-FM (100.7 the River). The Creedmoor signal has been redundant since main signal (WRTP 88.5 in Franklinton) upped their power.

*His Radio's current Durham translator, 10-watt W300AR 107.9 (located atop Signal Hill) has a CP to drastically reduce its height and power (10 watts at 98 feet to 1 watt at 30 feet) and switch channels to 97.1.

*Wake Forest's W237BA (95.3) will move to 95.1 with 175 watts, increased height and a directional antenna pushing the signal north. Probably to make way for the Clayton translator boost. This is another redundant translator as far as WRTP.

*Lizard Lick's W255BR (98.9) will move to 98.7 and boost power to 250 watts with a slight increase in height. This one's pretty redundant as well for WRTP purposes.
 
It will likely re-broadcast one of the national iHeartRadio/Format Lab/HD-2 formats, with a little bit of localization in imaging. Any guesses on the format?
 
95.3FM W237BZ is not on the Apex tower yet, that's for sure. This 95.3 signal, which comes from the old WRAL-TV tower in Auburn, barely hits the western loop of the Beltline in Raleigh. Near the 1/64 split in Apex the signal is absent.

Does anyone else have issues with the RDS on WDCG HD-2?
 
Technically speaking there is no RDS on an HD2. If you're having problems seeing it then it's because it doesn't exist. :)

The HD-2 signal works fine for G105. Are you meaning that RDS isn't on a HD subchannel? Then what is the service that they use for displaying the titile of songs, station ID lines on my radio? :p
 
Looks like 95.3 is going to be an alternative station. Finally some new rock in the triangle. Anyone have any updates on the move?

Program Associated Data, or PAD.

Looks like RDS to the end user, but the technology is VERY different.
