Hmm.. Since you can't edit posts after 5 minutes have passed.. I guess I have to make a new one instead of editing like I could in the old system. Hmph. That said,Wow. They didn't even try hard. Seems every HD2 format chosen was either a step in a different "same" direction... or just duplicating what they can't manage to do right on their main stations. (XL, JRR...) WOCL already does classic alternative, though no one really listens. Hell, TKS even does it on the weekends on the current station. What are they going to do now? Fill it up with syndicated weekend talent? Or have another WFLUFF of informercials?Don't get me wrong... I had no high hopes for CC's HD2 radio in Orlando. Guess I was just hoping for less while expecting more? I don't know.
Z88.3 (WPOZ) has announced that they will start raising funds in May to convert their WPOZ 88.3 and WMYZ 88.7 signals to HD.The new formats will be "Y Hot" and "Y Rock" from co-owned RadioY.com.Y Hot - Christian Hip Hop - R&BY Rock - Christian Rock(From my interpretation of the spots I've heard, both 88.3 and 88.7 will each carry both formats as HD2 / HD3 signals.)
Initially we plan on launching HD-1 and HD-2 channels on our 88.3 and 88.7 frequencies. There has been some rumblings that the FCC is going to allow FM stations to use 150 kb instead of 120 kb. If they free it up for any type of HD use, we will experiment with splitting it up into (3) 48 kb signals and see how good we can make them sound. Sound quality is our biggest priority.
Thanks for the info! I don't live in the Orlando area, but I would like to see you succeed so that other Christian stations will add similar subchannels on HD.I also enjoy listening to Y Hot online regularly. All 3 stations originating at Y & Z have great sounding streams available in a variety of formats. Other stations should be using it as a model.(BTW, Congratulations on "Z Radio HD" surpassing its financial goal recently.)
