Clear Channel top 40 wksc hires Java Joel Murphy even after he got fired for saying “ I want to adopt two little BLACK kids and take them to the zoo and show therm where they came from”!

I am amazed and upset that someone [EDIT] would be hired by the same company, after they vowed that Murphy would NEVER work for clear channel again. I can forgive and forget if someone makes an on-air slip up but racial slurs are not slip-ups, they are what someone truly feels.

[EDIT] The company and PD Bo Matthews is encouraging him to “make noise in the market?? Does that mean more racial slurs.

Everyone at clear channel who is involved with this should be ashamed of themselves!

Did you even hear the tape of the incident? Did you hear the entire setup to "the comment?"

I'd wager that you did/have not, because if you were familiar with the entire incident, you would realize that "the comment" was taken out of context by the individual that complained.

Java Joel is one of the best talents in our business and I give nothing but kudos to Bo Matthews for having the intelligence to research the situation and being wise enough to realize the context of the comment AND the fact that it's been two years since it happened. If you ask me, that's plenty of time to reflect on what happened and move on.

(By the way, when you make a post like that and you get one of the major facts wrong, you look like an ass. WKSC did not hire Java, WAKS did.)
 
So calling someone a 'racist' is NOT against Radio-info's TOS policy, especially when the "Managing Board Editors"'s signature clearly states the following: "Please Note Our TOS: You agree not to use the Service to:
(a) upload, post or otherwise transmit any Content that is.... defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, ..."?

Especially when Brokenjaw Mountain didn't provide any facts to support such a libelous accusation. Only hearsay and conjecture.

Hey Brokenjaw Mountain...please provide facts to substantiate such accusation. Unless you might enjoy being the defendant in your county's Court of Common Pleas.
 
Joel says on his own website that he "crossed the line". I don't remember the comment in question, though.

But to step out and call the man a "known racist"? Totally out of line.

I don't know Joel at all. I know some folks who do. I think it's totally unfair to scream "known racist" at him.

He paid the price for his on-air comments - a year and a half basically out of major market radio, save for a fill-in or two and the VT gig up at the Montreal rimshot station.

I don't know ANYONE who actually knows him, who believes that what happened in Chicago is anything more than an unfortunate mistake made in the context of trying to do a radio show.

And to even remotely suggest that his new gig at Cleveland's Kiss FM is a possible venue for "more racial slurs" is incredibly inane.
 
I think the Subject line should read "Clear Channel hires known human being." Mr. 69, have you ever made a mistake?
 
I don't have a problem with people making mistakes. My problem is with a company that hires someone after they fired them for making racial slurs. It just shows how dumb clear channel is..

Clear Channel said they they would never hire Joel Murphy again and even reassured the NAACP of Chicago that this would never happen again.

NAACP of Cleveland needs to be contacted.

The fact that people defend this type of behavior is amazing . Mr Murphy's comments were not taken out of context. There is no way to twist this, saying “black kids came from the zoo”, is raciest and not forgivable.

When MR Murphy does this again I will be the one who says “I told you so”

You all should be ashamed of yourselves!

What didn't Gary Dee say during his time in radio, that many groups couldn't find offensive?

Don Imus made a recording in the 70's called "This Honkey's Nuts" that contained all kinds of racial slurs.

I could go on and on.

If you feel you have a case, give Jesse Jackson a call.
 
I know Java and he is not the slightest bit racist. Though the case agiast might suggest that he is, take in mind that Java makes fun of white people, asian, black, hispanic, old people, young and any other group you can think of. Java is an equal oppritunity offender. Though the bit was over the line as he admitted, it doesn't reflect his own personal feelings about black people. Some of the people most upset when he left Kiss Chicago were Black people from sister station WGCI. Java is one of the greatest people I've ever met point blank. So sorry Broke Jaw [EDIT]you didn't get the Job!
