Clear Channel Hiring in L.A.?

They are hiring, right? Now that they have the top 3 stations, I would imagine they'll be able to justify paying another salary or two, right?

Oh wait, you mean this only validates the assertion that cuts weren't going to impact the product? That trimming more "fat" was needed?

Can't win either way:
Ratings go up--obviously don't need to hire.
Ratings go down--can't afford all those salaries.

No, they are not hiring at Clear Channel Los Angeles. They already did two major reductions in force this year and the building is full of frightened employees.

Oh and they're closing their third floor offices. Sales is moving up to the fourth & fifth. Looks like they'll sub-lease floor three to save even more money. Right now they have a lot of empty space but it'll get a bit more crowded upstairs very soon.

That should make their sales force hit the streets. There's nothing like being crowded together like chickens in a cage. It's always great when the guy next to you can hear your entire conversation with a potential client. I used to hate that when I was a beginner. What's next for the building? Will more than one AE be sharing the same desk and phone?

I hear they're scrambling to create offices for all of the managers, but some egos are larger than others and for those it's not enough to actually have an office. They want one to their liking. Meanwhile many who have had offices or cubicles are now being told they'll "maybe" get to share a work area with several others. If they’re lucky maybe they'll get a locker. But really since all of the reductions in work force it makes sense to give up a floor and make some money from it.

Sounds a lot like the paper I work for. lol

The sad part of all this is that it's not the fault of the sales people, the air talent or the middle management.

It's the SOBs at the top who have f-ed everybody AND STILL they end up with winning packages in the end.

I hope they burn in hell.

Sounds like a well-reasoned, thoughtful and yet enlightend post.

True.
But unfortunately, it's an accurate one...

The funny thing...is that they are actually hiring. Just saw an add for Valentines show, looking for a producer for his national shows. Pay, your guess is as good as mine.
