Clear Channel IDs the 55 stations getting the "Aloha" treatment

I really don't think that Lotus has the finances to purchase in this market. Many of their stations are being supported from funds from their Las Vegas Nevada cluster.

Don't be silly. The two LA AMs are major cash cows, and Fresno and Bakersfield and Tucson each contribute very nicely for the market size they represent. Reno is smaller, but also is nicely profitable. This is a family company with no debt and a very efficient management structure.

In regards to CBS making a move, they were looking to pick up at least one and maybe two more stations in the Houston market, as of the last word I was privy to hear. I think going after Mix would be wise for them and I'd love to see them pick up Mix and flip it, especially given the recent Mix-like additions to Sunny's format. (How much more Top 40 do we need in Houston, after all?)

I'm crossing my fingers that my long-awaited wish for a CBS station to come into Houston with a true AC format to challenge KODA's long-standing dominance may soon be coming true. Sunny sounds too much like Mix, in some regards now and I think competition would do them some good, for a change.

I don't so much say that as an anti-Sunny comment, but as a comment based on my knowledge and experience that, sometimes, a little competition can make a good station even better, just by making them work a little harder to keep their edge. Just my view, for what it is worth...

Even univision could not buy them right now.The new owners will either be CBS OR BMP but let me ask a question, does anyone see the MEGA format really sticking around? It has great numbers but from what i hear the sales could be better!

Jesus I thought I was the dumbest one here! CBS nor BMP will purchase these stations. My bet goes to either SBS or Entravision.

And the room fell silent.

CBS nor BMP will purchase these stations. My bet goes to either SBS or Entravision.

SBS lost nearly $400 million in Q2 on impaired assets, and there are suggestions that they should sell non-core assets.

Entravision is not buying at all of late, and when they were, it is in markets where they already have TV operations, like Orlando where they bought WNUE last year.

Bill Shriffman, the Controller for Lotus has said the company does not have funds to make a major purchase within the next few months.

Seems Cox is emerging as the most logical buyer. Pick up the two sticks, move Country Legends to one of them (nice combo with KKBQ) and sell off 97.1.

The other signal would be tweaked or flipped to fit the rest of the cluster. I don't think Cox would retain the Mega format.

Despite CBS's woes, I still find it hard to believe they wouldn't take a deep breath, bite the bullet, and make a play. That, or sell what they've got here.

If the Cox scenario was to actually happen, it might open the market door to BMP via the 97.1 spinoff. Many of their signals in other markets seem to be rimshots. Don't know whether a standalone would be viable, though.

Ok so we agree that the only companies that can afford to buy these two stations are CBS,BMP OR COX?"
Nah, Expect the unexpected. Maybe a local ownership group is also not out of the reach.

Weren't you packing your bags and leaving! No cojones to do it uh? There's a saying that my hispanic neighbors teached me, (I wouldn't be surprised if you've have been told this more than once) "Perro que ladra, no muerde."

Yeah i sure have heard it ,but have you heard the one that says.(En boca cerada no entra mosca)
First off, when you quote something, you don't use parentheses, you use quotation marks.

Second, it is "En Boca CERRADA, No Entra Mosca"

Learn how to properly use your grammar. Your spanish, apparently, is so bad, that even I  have to correct it. Jeez, so much for being Latino.

Have you heard this one
"Botellita de jerez, todo lo que digas será al revés." That's right, it fits your lifestyle. Cuz everything you say is, for the most part, wrong. (Also got the acento agudo right in the phrase, but not like I am expecting you to know what that is, you'll probably have to Mexican Google it uh?)

Back to business, I really hope LBI has nothing to do with this transaction. I'll be really pissed if they even try to buy these. Also, I am more convinced that BMP will make an offer, and will probably get it. Can anyone say, "Hola Digital 101.1, Pop en Español")

In truth, the saying is, "en boca cerrada no entran moscas."

Which brings me to my favorite, "más sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo."

Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there a petition several of months ago to increase the number of stations a company can own? If so, CC is currently being forced in selling these two stations but "if" the FCC increases the number of then technically CC can transfer these two station back from the Aloha Trust.

That's not going to happen, IMHO. And, in any case, Clear is selling due to a DOJ ruling which has to do with cross ownership of major investors in Clear and two other companies in the market.
