Clear Channel Improves Emergency Preparedness

from fmqb.com:
Clear Channel Improves Emergency Preparedness

July 7, 2006

Clear Channel Radio is rolling out multiple backup hubs and developing an emergency satellite system to ensure communication in the case of an emergency or disaster. Radio transmitters, studio equipment and news gathering packages have already been installed in trucks and RVs at Clear Channel Radio hub cities, including Tulsa, Philadelphia, Orlando, San Diego, Atlanta and Sacramento. The hub cities will also house generators, satellite phones, fuel, supplies, and even a portable tower on a trailer. Several sites have already been set up with a focus on hurricane-prone areas and more will be in service before the end of the year.

Also, the new emergency backup satellite system will enable any of the company's local radio studios to broadcast their programming directly to any of the company's tower sites when microwave links or land lines are down. If emergencies force Clear Channel news teams and announcers to evacuate their studios, the satellite equipment will enable the crews in affected areas to broadcast from alternative, nearby locations and still provide listeners with up-to-date information. The emergency backup satellite systems are now being deployed in all of the Gulf Coast states, and future deployments in expanded markets are also planned.

They are experts in disasters!

They also have a crisis intervention team on hand for when Jerry Del Corpse gets the Spring Book.

Does anyone believe that this corp can last for a hellva lot longer anyway? I mean lets be honest, Don't most of us complain about what they do?
Maybe Im in the dark, but it just seems that they do things in BIG ways, but all they end up with is voicetracked stations that stink. ??? :-\ :'(

Randall:"Uh, geez, John, it looks like the New Orleans horse got out of the stable during that hurricane."
Hogan:"Yeah, we're getting some new locks for the barn door now as we speak."
