Clear Channel Is Going to Be A New Partnership With ABC

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/abc-clear-channel-media-entertainment-133000462.html

Is this going to affect these three stations like WABC, WPLJ and WNSH once if Cumulus is getting out of the radio business like they did with Citadel 2 years ago? Let me point that out. CC owns six stations like WHTZ's "Z100", WKTU, WWPR's "Power 105", WAXQ's "Q104.3", WLTW's "Lite-FM" and WOR. Why not add three more stations and you'll get 9 stations in the NYC market. This is going to take affect in the fall. ABC and ABC Radio Network are now going to be part of CC once if Cumulus gets out of the way. If CC gets WABC to be part of the deal, they should keep Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity on all of the CC stations except Huckabee on WOR. Any thoughts?

The article does not mention the ABC Radio Network which is owned and operated by Cumulus. For the most part the article just seems to mention iHeart Radio and certain ABC TV programming and news.

Re-read the article. It's only for digital content, and the ABC it's talking about is TV. So the deal means ABC T V content will be appearing on Clear Channel's digital platform.

First of all, Cumulus is NOT getting out of the radio business.

Second, the ABC Radio Network is now the Cumulus Radio Network. Technically, there is no ABC Radio Network.

The ABC name and content are owned by Disney. ABC Radio News is owned by Disney and licensed by Cumulus. That deal will be up in a year, and it's likely not to be renewed. At that point, Disney is free to negotiate with anyone for the ABC News Radio content. Perhaps this is the first step towards that. But that's it, and it's very specific.

Disney, you really have to know what you are talking about before you post dude. Love the internet!

OM3: Amen!

RMARTZKE: It doesn't. MLB controls all streaming rights to major league baseball. Stations which carry ballgames have to black them out on their audio streams.
