Clear Channel Jackson adopts Timesaver Traffic...

...and it sucks! I know it's nothing new for Clear Channel or any other big conglomerates to save a penny every which way they can, but what's wrong with using locally based people who know that it's Ridgewood Road and not Ridgewood Drive? And if I see an accident, why do I need to call a toll-free number in New Orleans to do it?

Contracting it out is cheaper than having an employee do it. They can get the service much cheaper than it would cost in wages, benefits, etc. for someone local to do it. It stinks but that's the reality of the radio business.

to be honest. most radio has gotten so phoney balogny in recent years with all the fakery and trying to pull one over on the listeners that it just isn't fun anymore to listen anymore. These locked down radio stations with no cars in the parking lot are even worse. I know of one local radio station that goes to dead air at the top of the hour thats been going on for over a week that nobody seems to notice. I've seen low power TV stations broadcast test patterns, blank screens, screensavers or a completely messed up picture for weeks at a time because there is nobody monitoring the stations.

Save your time, don't listen to that crap. Unless you are from out-of-town, you know where the delays are- accidents too- always the same places. that said, yes it is sad what consolidation has done to radio. Video didn't "Kill the Radio Star", consolidation did.....
