Clear Channel Jacksonville

Does anyone know which unlucky FM station is the one going to get the for sale sign hung up on it studios since it seems the Clear Channel buyout is happing now after all the stuff that has gone on. The safe ones I have to say are WQIK, WSOL, WPLA, WFKS...the one's I am putting a question mark next to is WROO and WJBT as here is my reasoning why: 1) WROO is almost basically a 1 share FM station eating up a 50,000 watt transmitter and basically they are a sitting duck. 2) Why WJBT..well even though they bring in one solid book after another with only having a Class A radio signal the question is raised as why would Clear Channel send the COL to Hastings and upgrade to the full 6,000 watt transmitter? By moving there it seems that they would loose a good portion of the audience in Jax. So something tells me they could do this plan as well....Sell WJBT's current frequency then move everything off of WROO..basically kill WROO...and place all the stuff at WROO's frequency..that would be intresting right? Anyways if anyone knows just post a message. Later. (WFXJ as being an AM station is protected as well).

Scuttlebutt has it that since CC sold off it's TV stations they no longer had to spin one radio station. I don't know if it's true, but that's what a little bird told me.
I see no reason to spin Rooster anyhow. A somewhat freewheeling, Keystone Cops approach to programming has that station playing Bob Seger, Eddie Rabbit, John Mellencamp, and Marshall Tucker as well as a country diet of everything from Toby Keith and Kenny Chesney to Conway Twitty and Dottie West ... and it's spun itself into the ground like a drill bit.
If 93.3 were a horse, I'd be firing up the old Ken-L-Ration plant and notifying Elmer's Glue...but not until I heard "A Boy Named Sue" one more time!

Well...that is not what I heard....they still have to do it because they are over the limit in Jacksonville but were grandfathered and the heads at CC said that the grandfather would not transfer to new ownership so one of the FM's has to go. TV Station sale does not affect the radio stations and if the FCC says they have to sell one in order for this buyout to occur then they have to do it.

was listening to 93.3 after midnight and heard tom murphy on there. is he still on Wqik and is he on live on 93.3 does anyone know. i think it was the world famous. i'm almost sure it was him though

I didn't think CC was so much "grandfathered" as just getting the OK since SOL and JBT were not technically "Jacksonville" stations, but I could be wrong.

Good analysis of Rooster's programming. Whatever it is, at least there's a conscious effort(?) to make it different from QIK. Maybe they want to battle Rock 105 for Jacksonville's Official Redneck Station!

I hear with the CC sale going forward, they are filing to move WJBT-FM 92.7 to Hastings (southern St. Johns county) and downgrading it a bit; and then it will be sold.

That effectively removes it from the ability to serve the Jacksonville market (but may be a good FM for southern St. Johns and northern Flagler, which has no local FM right now).

THE BEAT format will move to 93.3, where it's signal is particularly good in the hot zips of northwest Jacksonville.

So basically Rooster will be gone before the year is out I take it? The only problem is that 92.7 has done well in the ratings and stuff like that and a move to 93.3 may kill the ratings in the southern portion of the metro since city grade signal is not that great...unless CC has a plan to move the tower in closer or even upgrade the signal on 93.3....now I can just see it..93.3 The Beat Jamz...lol.....92.7 hmmm...just pray and hope CC doesn't at the last second dump the country on to that to sell it off...lol..later...
