Clear Channel layoffs?

Wonder if the cuts will hit as hard here since CC is already trimming two stations from their Houston cluster?

Might want to keep an eye on 790. Are they committed enough to the SportsTalk format to keep it going in the face of three competitors?

This article says 42 people were riffed from the Houston market, although the trades only reported four or five names.

Oh, and some stuff about Sam Malone.

Mentioned previously that Tim Collins was let go, The Animal may soon be taking its dying breath.

I'm watching for that news coming up. And really, outside of Craig Roberts and Charlie Pallilo I wouldn't miss the station all that much.

Wonder if that signals they will finally flip format at 790?

Let's see what CC does with the so-called "national programming strategy" we hear about. For sports it may involve a mostly national feed (like ESPN Radio) with local hosts during drive times.

I don't think Houston can continue to support four SportsTalk stations. Admit it, we're not that passionate a sports town. Someone will eventually throw in the towel.
