The radio ratings have also been one of the factors that have led baseball to push for this franchise to stay in Pittsburgh.
Other low-ranking franchises have far different broadcast situations... the Devil Rays have to buy time on 1250/WHNZ, owned by CC but running brokered programming. Their initial contract was on the big news/talker WFLA but this time around literally no one wanted them.
The Marlins have one radio station and no network that I'm aware of. (Not sure if they're still on WQAM or 790 ESPN).
The Nationals are on two crappy rimshot FMs in the DC area (the rough equivalent of being on a couple of the outlying Frogs). As the Expos they had at least one year where their broadcasts were only on the internet.
And whether we sell out for the game itself of just for bobbleheads and fireworks, people do come to PNC and they listen to the games. The Marlins were literally drawing 400 people the second half of the season. All in all, this is a reasonably healthy franchise.
