It will be a great day for Ohio radio when new owners take over these stations.

This is another example of how poorly Clear Channel does business. They destroyed these stations, cannot figure out how to make money off them and now they are cutting and running, as they are doing all over the country.

There has got to be a textbook in some business class with a chapter entitled "1000 ways not to do business; the story of Clear Channel."

hmmmm...how do you know the prices.......only the bidders are suppposed to have access to this on line buyers book they've beeen talking about.....

my guess is mansfield stations would get moved to columbus hence the price......

i bet ashtabula doesn't sell.........there just ain't nothing going on in that part of the world.....

Those look like some interesting bids. I thought that CVCO would be interested in picking up a signal in the region since they have 104.9 in C'bus and 95.1 in Mt. Gilead. It would be a great extension for them up the interstate. However, Mansfield already has K-Love on 98.7, so listeners in the area may not want another Christian AC.

Then, of course, you see EMF applying for WXXF, which could be an attempt to do one of a few things: (1) expand their K-Love coverage to the east (98.7 has weak signal to the eastern parts of the market), (2) consider putting K-Love on the 107.7 signal and move Air1 network to 98.7, or (3) try to work some magic to get 107.7 to rimshot better into Akron with K-Love (they also have an application for a B1 on 91.7 and 91.9 from the suburb of Wadsworth).

Also, Mount Vernon Nazarene University has a small class A on 90.9 that covers the town, so it is interesting to see them go after WXXR, which appears to cover the town, but has primary coverage north of the campus.

Dix going after WNCO would almost give them a country monopoly in that part of Ohio. They already run WQKT 104.5 out of Wooster as a pretty solid local operation, carrying Indians baseball, OSU football, high school sports, etc. They might be good owners for WNCO.

Finally, why does BAS want WXXR? They already own WQIO on 93.7 which easily covers all of the same area as WXXR; and all they did with Q was put a straight satellite feed on it as "Eagle 93-7".

Being on the fringe of the Mansfield market when I'm not at school, I'm excited to see what changes may happen.

If you want to find out what they might be worth, look closely at the deal they did with Ingstad in Fargo-Moorhead. Check CCU purchase price vs CCU sale price...the number looks to be 29 cents on the dollar.

That's what bankers call a haircut.

The information contained in this post is incorrect. The asking price for mansfield is NOT 17 million. I know for a fact that the bidders are not correct. BAS for one does not have a bid in for any station in Mansfield. Also CC is not splitting up certain stations. Check your information before you state it as fact!

RF Man, could you correct the original post instead of stating conclusively that what was written is wrong?

How much is the Mansfield bid, then?

And how do you "know for a fact" any of this information?

If you could enlighten the board as to what the actual bids are, what is being sold in what packages, and who is bidding, we all would be most appreciative knowing your truth.

The price for Mansfield is 16 Million at this time.

I do not know what the current bids are only that BAS is not among the bidders.

Finally Johnny why don't you ask Kentuckymedia for his truth?

I didn't ask him for his truth because (1) he's been accurate here before, and (2) he didn't come here just to negate what was written, without follow-up or explanation

I thank you for your statement of the Mansfield bid amount, but was it really necessary to be snippy over $1 million dollars for a cluster?

Especially a million dollars OVER the actual amount? I would think that CC would appreciate getting that extra blow.

In law, we call that substantially correct.

Thanks Johnny, it is much appreciated. Of course this was all from some research and contacting a TON of people concerning the price of the market. When you talk to sales managers, of course they are going to inflate the price of the market a bit..I just said what I was told.

RF Man, I appreciate you responding with the correct information. I wouldnt post something unless I know its almost 100% factual.

BAS has said they would like to bid on 1 station, and we all know what station that is. They have been licking their chops for that facility since it was known to be on the market. There are bidders asking for single stations. Mansfield can be torn apart...and guess what, it will. If someone walks in the door and asks for WXXF, they wont say...were only selling this as a cluster, so get out of my office. They will put a nice piece of white paper on the desk and ask, BIDDER, PLEASE TELL ME HOW MUCH YOU WOULD LIKE TO OFFER.

If they can make 15 million for selling all but one FM signal, and make 1.5 on the other signal, there going to walk away with more money than what they started asking for. Its called common sense.

Will CC get 16 for the market, doubtful. Will it get 14...good chance!

As for other bidders, I know for a fact that DIX is highly interested in obtaining another signal or two. Why wouldnt they? They made a bid for WMVO/WQIO.

If you know of any other bidders, please do inform.............
