Clear Channel msrc Emergency Network-KYOT

What is KYOT doing now. Turned over there a little after 3PM and heard them playing Running With The Devil. Then some announcement between songs saying clear channel msrc emergency network. Some kind of AOR format. Are they changing formats or some technical glitch.

The demise of a smooth jazz station in Phoenix? There's definitely been plenty of that happening in the past year or two in other markets, but who knows? MSRC Emergency Network?

If they were switching formats, I don't think it would be on this. My guess is the satellite feed isn't available.

3:43 PM and it is going on. Sound like a classic rock format. Also HD is off and the RDS is still showing info from the normal format. Must be the ISDN/Digital phone line down. Maybe this is some kind of filler format if the studio to transmitter link is down.

How I would love to have been in a waiting room with KYOT smooth jazz on softly in the background... Then Humble Pie (ha!) and "I Don't Need No Doctor!" I'm sorry, Good Doc.

We hear this from time to time on not only KWhyOhTee, but KayOhWhy. Clear Channel might want to upgrade their Tandy TS-80 computer with something from say the 1990s!

According to the Director of Programming and Operations, KYOT lost their link from the studio to the transmitter site atop South Mountain. The music was fine in the studio (if you went to KYOT.com and listened to the streaming it was the regular Dave Koz show)...just could not get it to the tower. At the tower, they had access to a satellite radio feed and streamed that over the air until they could get someone up to the transmitter and repair the link.
