Clear Channel Must Not "Like" Their Facebook Page

http://www.facebook.com/ClearChannel

Currently, it has over 14,000 people who "like" the page - but I wonder how many of them really do like it. Case in point: Many of the comments posted to the last item - which itself was posted on October 17 - have nothing to do with the subject matter. And of course, the number of comments really took off after they started their latest series of RIF's.

It happens in Social Media. Look up the Facebook page of online bank INGDirect http://www.facebook.com/ING-DIRECT
The page has over 54,000 "likes" but of course, some of those people hate INGDirect. Twitter has it right. It's more like a
"Follow".

Since it was announced that Capital One is buying them, the volume of comments has spiked and turned overwhelmingly negative. The sale has not been executed and it's not even their fault, ING was requried to divest its online bank by European regulators.

So no, it's not too surprising that those who were RIF'd rip Clear Channel on its Facebook page. If it makes them feel better for a day or two, then fine. But I hope for their sake they get on with their lives. Bitterness, even if justified, only hurts the person wallowing in it. It doesn't bother Clear Channel.
