Clear Channel promotions...

I guess CC will do anything for a buck. This is a horrible promotion...what are they thinking. This is the type of thing programming people are trying to keep sales from doing to the station. Now, Clear Channel only focused on the mighty dollar.Clear Channel & NBC Team For Unique Radio Promotion June 15, 2006NBC and Clear Channel Radio have announced a unique radio campaign for the new reality show Treasure Hunters. A series of spots that range in length began airing today (June 15) in the top 15 markets, with longer, different spots airing other markets. Each of the spots connect to the next one, with a series of clues. The :05 spots run between songs and tease the upcoming clues and questions. A :15 spot runs in the next stopset with the first clue. The answer, as well as a second clue, air in a :30 spot in the following ad break. Finally, a :60 spot airs in the next ad break with yet another clue, the answer to which will be revealed on Treasure Hunters.“In order to help promote the interactive nature of the program, we put together a breakthrough creative solution," said Tim Farish, VP of Media Planning for the NBC Agency. “This resulting campaign is innovative and fun, and takes advantage of the new ways radio can be utilized to make our message stand out to listeners.”"We are very proud of the creative execution that resulted from strategic thinking and a successful collaboration with NBC," said Charlie Rahilly, EVP of Operations for Clear Channel Radio. "We expect these spots, which grow in length and anticipation through the use of riddles, clues and sound bites, to really make an impression on our millions of listeners."

I agree. :05 second sounders. And then :15 second sounders? I think this is a horrible sales promotion. No clue at the top when planning these things.

Radio is gone from the mom and pop days and they will never return. It's run by major corps and will be from now on. We'll all should just buck up and take it. it was bound to happen. I predict, Congress will make major changes next year with ownership. They will relax the rules even more. One company should be able to own more in one market. If there are 12 signals they own 6 why not let them own the other 6 too. Just think of the diversity we would have on the air. The different format choices. If there are 2 country station in the same market, competing against each other...just think one could be flliped to classic country.

And why is it a news paper can't own other media. That is sooooo out of date it has to change. You should be able to own the newspaper, tv station and the 12 radio stations. Why not.
