Forget CC`s "Morning Mess" problems. The whole Clear Channel Atlanta operation continues to be a total failure. Just think of how many times their local stations have flipped, destroyed Hertiage names. Peach 94.9, Lite 94.9, 96 Rock, Wgst-FM 105.7, Wmax 105.3 80`s, cool 105.7. Have I missed any failures? So many firings! And it still continues today!

No, and neither has this board. :)

Actually, you did miss one: Real Radio 105.3.

Planet Radio doesn't count because that was back in the Jacor days.

The others. like Peach and 96 Rock are hertiage names.

Such is life, so was 94Q, QXI in Dixie, Fox, Z93 Y106, Eagle and others. Those were not Clear Channel decisions. I gues you have no problem with Eagle being killed off since it suits your needs. Life moves on you can't get stuck in the past listening to stale music.

Is there some point to this thread, other than to vent your spleen? There certainly isn't anything newsworthy in it, although I have to admit, it is an improvement over some of your other contributions which are just plain wrong.

By the way what is CC's Morning Mess problem? You seemed to just create the post for no real reason.

What the hell, what about WLTA 100, Warm 100, Power 99, 99X (we all know who misses that one), BM WSB FM 98, WBIE 101.5 (although no format change to speak of there), Wide 107, WJYF Joy FM 104.1, WPLO (on 590, not 610, thankyouverymuch), Ring Radio, and WAKE 1340?

Oh, and Lake 102 and Sunny 100, too.

credible and informed: "goodtimesandgreatoldies" doesn't even know who
owns STAR...so it's a CC screw-up.
since this is the place to make things up...don't forget how CC banned the dixie chicks

Ever since WERD gave up it's black programming...and then changed call letters, its been down hill for Clear Channel.

I never said that CC owned Star 94!!!!!!!! Where did I say this??? I thought the Morning Mess was that crap with Andre The Giant on 96 Rock (or what was once 96 Rock). Everything I said is correct! CC Atlanta has had many failures!

All of which has been chronicled ad nauseum here and elsewhere. What good reason is there to open yet another thread with nothing to add to the discussion? CC has made mistakes; big honkin' bulletin there. Tell us something we don't know, preferably, for a change, something you didn't pull out of thin air.

Regardless of ownership, when you think of idiotic programming, naturally the names of Chuck Deskins, Randall Bloomquist, and all of their predecessors at Clear Channel come to mind. 8) ;D

Windreader fails to understand what the post is addressing. The problem is STILL going on! It would nice to hear others address how Cheap Channel should imrove its`s ratings. This is current news- this week it was widely revealed that CC is planning to blow up The Bull 94.9. It is great discussion to address how CC is handling this and how they have a pattern of past failures here. Once again, the floor is all yours-Windreader. Bless us with exciting insight on all of this. You seem to defend Cheap Channel. However, your posts on the subject lacks substance. PLEASE- inspire us with your educated and informed take on all of this-PLEASE! Perhaps, Windreader is blowin` in the wind on this subject.

You know what is funny about this thread. These are the same topics we all discussed when we met after work for drinks before the internet. We trashed the management, and we all discussed how we could run a radio station better. The only difference here is that we don't see each other anymore as we have the internet to have our discussion.

Because he is a puddin' stick who likes to start aimless threads that always contain inaccuracies like The Morning Mess is CC's fault or that only CC's blows out heritage names.

I'm going to speak on behalf of some of the current ATL CC programmers and their predecessors: it ain't entirely their fault.

CC, as a whole, lessened their ability to compete across the entire platform, slashing talent, research, and marketing money. Even payroll for sales! Meantime, back in Atlanta you had multiple new signals moving into this market.

They're paying less, and getting less overall. If you really think the major decisions, much less the formats themselves, are all up to a mere CC PD, then it just shows what you know. That's all.

Just going back a couple of years ago, back when radio life was relatively good (Wall Street still loved us, and budget cuts were not the driving force), 1819 Peachtree Road could not have been more screwed up. The empty suits that Hogan left in charge knew zip about programming. What made matters worse was that the programmers that the suits turned to for advice, were incompetent. What PD on the planet would ever say, “listeners are turning the station off because it is called “The Peach.” But they’ll come running back after we change the name to The Lite!” Who does that??

When CC relocated their SVP, there was hope inside 1819 that the new SVP would straighten things out. Out of the box the new SVP proclaimed, everything in radio that could be done, has been done. At that point, game over. The only person missing from the team was the director of patents in the eighteen-hundreds – claiming everything that can be invented, has been invented.

Given the financial climate at the new CC, the short read is that the status of programming has gone from a necessary evil, simply to evil.

The problems at CC in Atalnta have been going on since 2005 when the got the rights to the Braves, connection here humm. The only way to fix the problem is to shake up management because it's obvious they are the problem.
