IS IT TRUE THAT CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO PHILADELPHIA IS TRYING TO SELL OR THINKING OF SELLING Q102 POWER 99 AND MAYBE RUMBA 1480?

IS THIS TRUE?

I just found out about 1480 yesterday, when a customer came into my store asking for a classic Sergio Mendes CD. I loved him as a kid, so I asked what station played him and he told me 1480. I always knew that station as WHAT and thought it odd they would play Sergio. If they can bring me more customers, i hope they stay in business.

My mistake....in the 70's, wdas-am and what were they same to me. I was a kid then, so what did i know, i just turned on the radio to hear music or that simulcast the channel 48 did during the afternoon kids programming block.

Which reminds me, who was the host and where did he end up? I remember him being African-American and I think he was a radio or TV host on Channel 3 at the time.

Early WHAT Radio history here.

On that page is a nice color foto of what looks like an AM array comprising three in-line, not-exactly identical, square-cross-section self-supporting towers, at least one of which has a very wide base. In the backgound is what appears to be a 1940's vintage art-deco transmitter building. Is the foto of WRCV CA 1957? (WRCV had been KYW before RCA/NBC forced Westinghouse to swap its Philadelphia radio and TV properties for stations in Cleveland and became KYW again a few years later when the courts forced RCA and Westinghouse to unwind the deal.) My understanding is that KYW has and always has had (at least when it's been in Philadelphia), a two-tower array. But many years ago, before I was disabused of the notion, I had the impression that KYW had a three-tower array. So if the foto really is of WRCV or KYW, when did the current two-tower array replace the three-tower array in the foto? And if the foto is not of WRCV or KYW, what station is it?

Kinda looks like the old WFIL 3 tower self supporting array 60's-70's a stones throw from the KYW 2 tower site, before they replaced it with the 3 guy wired towers then to the WIBG site...

Better hope so before CC starts in with Ryan Snoozfest and Premium Choice crap.

I believe at least half of all the radio stations in the US are vulnerable to sale right now.

When reality sets in CLear Channel's stock value is going to plummet. It's up on unfounded hype. It's now around
$ 7 a share and that's way too rich . It should be priced at around a $ 1 share but when that happens, you're going to see many fire sales.
