Clear Channel Radio Stations Internet Streaming

Many Clear Channel stations were streaming in MP3 or WMA format in addition to their IHeart Radio until about the end of September. For some reason unknown, they stopped the stream. An MP3 or WMA stream is needed for the radio station to be heard on Internet Radios like the Aluratek, Audiovox/AR/RCA Radios, Grace and CC Crane Radios, which connect to the internet wired or wirelessly. These radios are not compatabile with IHeart radio. I've called my local Clear Channel Radio Stations and they were surprised by this fact, and I've tried calling and emailing Clear Channel with no response so far. Could anyone here who has one of these radios try to tune in your local Clear Channel stations and see if you get a signal. Why would Clear Channel do a foolish thing like this? Not everyone has a smartphone. Any suggestions?

I have a Grace radio and it works perfect. In fact on the grace radio it will say IHeart Radio and click on genre or location. The Audiovox/RCA and squeezebox stopped carrying it. Maybe their contract ran out.

I used to listen to Clear Channel stations on line.I had it set up with all my favorites. Now to set up favorites it appears that you have to use facebook. Why would they make it so difficult?I think the easiest site to listen to radio is CBS's radio.com.

We have had a great relationship with TuneIn.com and their TuneIn Radio app which is carried on all mobile platforms.....

And we also have had great success with our stations on WebTuna.com

Just my .02 cents....

I know LMTTRR is on TuneIn Radio, but we never authorized it. Still, if they are picking up the royalties, we have no issue with it.

On the other hand, there are many tuner sites, and maybe tunein.com, that are just ripping off the stream, and for that I'm not happy. We pay royalties for this music to be licensed, and if they cant go through the proper channels, then I am at issue with them.

I don't worry about it though, as we never submit to services without first checking the licensing issue first. If an entity manages to pull the stream information without our knowledge, it is on their head, and not ours.

Now, as far a Clear Channel is concerned and the issue from the original post, it works perfectly here, so wonder what the problem is for you. Sorry about not offering some other information, however, it works for me locally. Maybe it is just a glitch with their system, and will be worked out once complaints come in.

TuneIn and the similar sites/apps, are basically portals, or search engines, that allow easy searching for webcasts. I use the phone app quite frequently, and the streams offered are those for that particular station. TuneIn, et. al. don't offer their own streams. And they don't cut into streams to air their own content, such as ads.

As for how they put your stream on there, by default, they seek out compatible audio streams. Some companies, such as Clear Channel and CBS, offer their own similar apps, hence, they asked TuneIn not to link to their stations. And some stations are restricted to broadcasting only in their own country, so they may not be available. And some, such as AccuRadio, don't offer compatible streams for listing. Some webcasters just opt out of being listed, but many of them encourage it, as it allows for convenient listening (especially on smartphones).

TuneIn does offer a "pro" version of their app for a one-time fee ($3-4, I think) that has no ads and the ability to record streams, but aside from that, the app is free (though ad supported).
