  • Thread starter Talking Furniture
  • Start date

Not exactly. Her replacement arrives next week.
Well, sure, they'll still need a boss. But at what fraction of Bryant's salary?

In the near future this board will shut down because there won't be enough poeple working in Bay Area radio to provide topics :-\

Has any checked all access yet. They have put info on the name of the guy who is coming out to take that post.
You how they do it they just change the title of the job and change some of the duties.. We all know they're know to do stuff like that...

Likely same or higher, considering the new market manager comes from a market of similar size and is being moved into a very high cost of living market. Maybe they will fill the DoS position that has been open for nearly 6 months.

Those are not necessarily the rules of the game CC has historically played. Can't be absolute, as my evidence is only hearsay, your honor, but a lot of say has certainly been heard.

I agree with David...another top 10 market manager from a market where it's expensive to live...I'm betting he will be making similar money. Maybe they were waiting for the new guy to bring in his own DOS.

She was over-matched in the position. While there may be some money issues involved, her track record as RVP wasn't the best. Nice person, though.

I don't think CC helped her any by promoting her thru the ranks so quickly. She might have been better at the gig had she had more seasoning. Her claim to fame at the time of her promotion to RVP was her ability to flip stations to spanish programming. She was involved in the KSJO switchover...

She replaced Joe Cunningham and she just wasn't ready.

And now KSJO has to be sold per the DoJ and the three South Bay stations per FCC; other Spanish (Preciosa) stations that are gone are Las Vegas (DoJ) and fresno and Bakersfield (Alhoa Trust). So much for the Hispanic initiative. I wonder what will become of the Preciosa "network " HQ in san Jose once the larger market affiliates are all gone.

Sure looks like the Clear Channel Hispanic plan is dead. In a way it's ironic that Univision caused the divestitures. In San Jose and Las Vegas La Preciosa is beating Recuerdos. Maybe the new owners decide to keep the format. What becomes of the people already employed by CC?

Sales of stations often results in changes in format and staff; the South Bay group is going to all have to go if the privatization of CCU happens and likely many changes would occur.

As to Recuerdo (without an "s") in Las Vegas, it is on a much inferior signal and probably could never beat a full local C. San Jose is an embeded market in the San francisco metro and the only important thing is winning San Francisco, not San Jose. I seldom even download or open SJ as the sample is so flaky as to be annoying.

One poster on a Usenet group in San Francisco suggest that the whole Preciosa concept will be dead after the merger. I see it as a small market option, but right now the expenses are too high for that to be practical.
