This is hardly new news....didn't this happen in Dec or before?

I didn't see the information here before until this post.
So I would like to thank the original poster for this information....
even though some people felt the need to bash the person for their grammar instead of add information to the thread OR just mark the post read and move on.

The sale was announced and filed in July of last year. The sale closed in November of 2007.

Nothing has really changed format or talenet wise. The only significant change from CC''s ownership (for now anyway) is that El Dorado is broadband MP3 streams for all their High Desert outlets.

I don't care about the guy's typo--the topic is interesting. They had to move the Roy Rogers exhibit to Branson MO, because of lack of attendence. The only station that could make it in the area is a "leaf blower station." (That's what all the big wigs call Spanish language stations behind closed doors.)

Slightly more than a typo, three uses of an adverb where the possessive pronoun was intended and the use of a noun where a verb was called for. I see this all too often in places (like newspapers) where it should never happen and I hope that the gentleman goes back to school and learns better.

However the issue he brought up is valid. What consolidation promised when it was sold to the regulators, which was the salvation of under performing smaller stations has never materialized. And now that Clear Channel the public corporation has morphed into a private company the main part of the deal was the shedding of the small market stations. But they have except for a few adjustments retained control of all of the major markets and left the little operations, like Victorville to fend for themselves.

I know there will be people adding to this with talk about bottom lines, ratings, on and on, but the fact is that the placement of radio stations in smaller towns was to allow the coverage of local issues and a voice for officials to communicate to the citizens of those communities. All of this can happen even with automation and satellite fed programming. The disadvantage for people in the business that it eliminates the entry level opportunities which is a fact that can not be denied. If there are too many stations splitting the market share then maybe some should just fade away, but the total annihilation of every local station should not happen either.

To quote my man Elvis.... There's a whole lot of shakin' going on.
