Clear Channel selling off...?

Clear Channel will be selling nearly 500 stations that aren't in the top 100 markets..are we soon to see the sale of several stations in New England?
there may be selloffs in Hartford CT, Burl VT, up in NH etc

It will not happen, but it will be funny if Radio One pick up Jamn 94.5 . LOL .

According to radio and records the markets around here...

>In rated markets, the clusters being sold are: Burlington, Vt.; Lebanon, N.H.; Bangor, Maine; Augusta, Maine;

Non-rated clusters being spun off are: Randolph, Vt.

Worcester considered part of Boston market? RadioAndRecords says it's #110...

Will CCU proceed with the CP for AM 1200 if it's eventually going to be sold anyway? Two other stations are involved, including ratings powerhouse (at least for now) WRCA-AM 1330.

Boston-area stations are not on CC's chopping-block. CC is dumping entire clusters in their least-profitable markets, which include Burlington VT and Augusta Maine and Bangor Maine. In Bangor AREA, CC has about 7 or 8 stations.... mostly higher-powered FM's... The relation of earnable dollars is low compared to kilowatt-hours needed to run them.

>>Boston-area stations are not on CC's chopping-block

Well, I knew that but I meant some markets whose signals bleed into Boston market: southern NH,
Worcester, Springfield...but apparently it's markets under #100 which are, as JIBGUY said,
the least profitable. Thanks for info!

Boston Radio Watch does say that somewhere down the line WKOX or WXKS could be sold off...

Mitt Romney to buy the airwaves? Like Cheney never left Halliburton, don't think the soon-to-be-ex-Governor doesn't have his fingers in this pie...

2 Hub firms to purchase nationwide radio giant
By Robert Gavin, Globe Staff | November 17, 2006

Two big Boston investment firms yesterday agreed to buy the nation's biggest radio broadcaster for an estimated $19 billion as financial pressures and technological change reshape traditional media companies.

Thomas H. Lee Partners LP and Bain Capital Partners LLC were the high bidders for Clear Channel Communications Inc. of San Antonio, Texas, the owner of 1,150 radio stations, including 64 in New England.

Bain Capital, cofounded by Mitt Romney in 1984, before he became governor of Massachusetts, has participated in buyouts of major consumer brands such as Toys "R" Us, Burger King, and Domino's Pizza.

Allaccess printed the list of the stations they're selling. All podunk stations in markets below 100, 200, to unrated markets. Nothing in New England that I noticed but i just skimmed the list. No big station on the list either, all small fry sticks.

Not likely to see R1 do anything but get smaller, as they can't maintain the ship they have at it's current size. Unfortunate for them as it comes @ time when there soon will be a changing of the FCC guard to go w/the current examination of large corp.ownership/practices and the affects on local regions. They had their chance.
Usually capitol venture crews really only look at $ roll-overs for what they acquire. The small markets seem to be the obvious 1st move. It's not so far off that they move to the bigger markets as it would result in bigger $$. With over 19 billion
spent, big markets have a greater & faster return margin in the sceme of things. Venture capitol groups don't stay in the game long, they're looking to make returns for the investers and move on... not staying in for the long term.(ie; Toys R Us,Burger King etc. they aren't broadcasters)
