Clear Channel sinks to new lows

From the main page:

In a disturbing trend, Clear Channel's new operating philosophy appears to involve consolidating key jobs in adjacent or nearby markets. Such moves are not only leaving talented broadcast executives on the street, depriving the company of their talent and experience, but have the added disadvantage of being a simply bad business plan. Such decisions don't bode well for the radio behemoth's immediate future.

Speaking of CC...rumors are floating around that theyre trying to get rid of the Bangor cluster. Can't blame them. Despite what the big dogs want people to believe, they're losing boat-loads of money. Maybe the next owner will actually give some attention to their stations. What an idea, huh?

To add to the rumor, I had it on good authority that CC was planning to dump their 20, perhaps even 30, least profitable markets. This included Burlington... Don't be shocked to see Citadel or Cumulus break into Burl/Platt in the next year or so. Can't say it'd be a bad thing for the market to be joined by one of those two companies...

The rumor of Bangor being sold has been out there for quite some time! Heck.. who wouldn't want to get rid of WGUY 102.1 FM where the most revenue is an infomercial daily at 12 Noon!

Chitadel or Crumulus as alternative to CC??? Wow, what future potential ahead for listener and employee <(note no S at the end.)

Clear Channel now combining the PD jobs of WKSQ(Kiss 94.5)formerly held by Cindy Michaels and WWBX (B97) held by Chris Duggan. Well, do you really need a PD for B97 when everything except the night show is voicetracked? Rofl.. ad says to send your programming philosophy.... hmmmm consolidation is good? Voicetracking is great? I can do the work of 3? Oh.. and I'm from away so don't worry, I don't know how to pronounce the Maine towns and cities during school closings!

:D

popman...

You forgot to add the famous line:

"NO...it doesn't bother me to fire anybody on the staff when it's necessary! Providing my written contract includes 'a large severence and benefits package' when it's MY TURN TO GET CANNED!"

argytunes

Argy.. and the famous
"Oh.. and would you like one or two sugars with the coffee? And may I stir it for you meddling LJ?"

what market is tos considered in. i go through arm and teeth to get em here in Vt

Augusta/Waterville will probably go to..... if CC ain't selling everything, they're probably going to sell of the smaller things.

Does anyone know who is the girl that does nights on B97? What's her story?
