Clear Channel Communications has agreed Thursday to be bought for $18.7 billion by a consortium that includes Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital.

so will they change anything? or will it be the same old crap in every market?

Mays and his ilk will remain in the higher-echelon posts...in fact, Mays will be an investor. In other words, more of the same. Huzzah.

With New Orleans and Baton Rouge not part of the 101 market and over sell off. I shudder to think of the Religous groups(Zealots) waiting to pounce on these stations

Hold On there cha-chee! Think just because B.R., N.O., Biloxi-Gulfport, or Jackson
Ms or any others that are not listed on that "First" list are not for sale because they
are not on the list, then think again. Could all markets under the top 25 be next, and
will the pitcure be much smaller, or Clear..er.. by next Summer? Hmmm....

And the budget cut axe continues to fall. It got me today. I was production director at CC Biloxi for the last 6 months.

I don't think any of the smaller market stations on the "keep" list are going to be safe. Just my opinion.

Oh well... off to Disney World tomorrow. That's right... the day before my vacation. Typical.

CC's been selling whole clusters not picking off individual stations from what I gather. But even though the prices are attractive (Alexandria/Pineville went for $4M), Most of the religious groups wouldn't be able to come up with the cash to buy the stations usually or even program them (as people would revolt if say half a market turned religious overnight)

The rumors are the market 100 and lower are for sale to help finance the HD2 Conversions of the main market signals as well as finance some of the debt load.... And apparently it's under performing markets they are moving first and cheap.

With the right kind of green however, any cluster for CC is for sale.....

But my question is how much The Shreveport and Hattiesburg (rimshots into the Florida parishes) markets would get (that's if they sell because apparently they may want to keep their continuous monitored markets)

And Sorry to hear about your job Don... Hope you enjoy Disney World with the family...

I sure hope this means someone who knows something about programming will come in and fix the CC Shreveport Cluster.

94-5 is all over the road, and not even close to what it was when the station launched as Big Dog back in '96.

KVKI is just a shell of the great station it used to be. KVKI used to dominate Shreveport, now it so watered down it's sad.

KISS Country is not too bad, just needs more local personality.

Hopefully someone with class will come in and return GOOD LOCAL radio to Shreveport.
