CLEAR CHANNEL SOLD

;D 42 Minutes ago it was announced Clear Channel was sold to Thomas H. Lee LLC for 18.7 Billion Dollars..Let the Spin Begin

TH Lee is a holding company and IMHO will more than likely keep the CC name and much of the management team.

I wouldn't expect a lot of changes locally or nationally (at least in the top 100 mkts). I wonder is this will affect (accelerate?) CC-Triad's acquisition of WSJS-WSML and WMFR

Don't know..I thought it was also announced that CC was going to sell 400 some odd stations off..What's up with that? Merry Christmas Clear Channel Employees

 It Ain't Cheap Channel Never Did anything for me

I am telling you, this is a bean counter thing - not a lot of changes! Maybe two years from now. CC has already trimmed the fat in order to get ready for this sale. Look for the following if it is not already in place in your market:

1- A Market Manager who oversees all stations within 100 miles.
2- A GSM who oversees sales within the same group.
3- A local ops manager or station manager to handle the day to day operations.
4- Sales people who sell all stations in the cluster.
5- Except for the largest markets, one PD who oversees all stations in the cluter.
6- Music stations will have centeralized playlists.
7- Consolidation of transmitter sites where feasible, and contract engineers to take care of satellite sites where necessary.
8- Centeralized news person who provides news product for multiple stations - basically restricted to AM drive except for the news-talk stations. They will continue to have more of a real news staff, but will provide product to other stations in their cluster ...

There is likely more, but it is late and I am tired ......

Don't look like a bean counter thing to me..Too many people getting the ax and stations on the block

Big Ape, that's what bean counters do. CC had started the trimming before this sale was announced - and it hasn't actually happened yet. Must be approved by stockholders. It is current CC bean counters who are and have been making the cuts.
