CLEAR CHANNEL STAFFING REAL JOCK?

So I see on radioonline that there is a midday opening at KIXX for a LIVE jock!!! Is this move to combat the H driven WOLF, before he claims world domination over the UV, or just the growing trend I have noticed with CC going back to real bodies in the studios?

With this trend, there is going to be a lot of POed trackers who count on that out of market track money, no? Is the trent company wide, or specific markets?

those ruthless, heartless bastids are at it again! first, removal of personality from radio and the development of centralized programming and now, this??? real people? live? on the radio? have they no scruples whatsover??

the unemployed vt'ers will find a way to replace the 40 bucks a week they get from tracking a show.

and kudos to whomever winds up with a real radio job.

interesting to note that in less than five years, CC has gone from being "satan incarnate" and is not among the companies that are blowing up their formats and going jockless... to the contrary, CC is restaffing their stations. someone, somewhere, has maybe discovered there is more than a hint of benefit in being live & possibly local?

As much as we all enjoy bashing CC, you must admit that they are making some positive moves. I think you'll see more of this. Specifically in markets that are valuable to them. CC has stated a mission to refocus and spin off properties that are not worth keeping. It should be interesting to watch!

Look for more live & local in markets where they are encountering viable competitors.

I worked for CC before...a lot of the stations they were tracking were stations that weren't making enough money to support a full local, talented staff. I had an out-of-market night jock on my station who was the best jock in the market and I worked with him to keep him sounding local. Now that station has turned itself around and they live at night again...you just can't go into a realtors office and buy a mansion if you don't have the income!!

I am not saying that I agree or disagree with what CC does...just pointing out my experiences with them!
