CLEAR CHANNEL STATEWIDE SELLOFFS

Okay, the bets have been placed for who is going to pick up Clear Channel Sandusky, Tiffin, Findlay and maybe even Clear Channel Mansfield.

However, im wondering what is going to happen to the following:

MARION (1AM - 2FM)
DEFIANCE (1AM - 3FM)
CHILLICOTHE (2AM - 2FM)
LIMA (1AM - 5FM)
PARKERSBURG (2AM - 4FM)
WHEELING (2AM - 4FM)
DAYTON (2FM)
COLUMBUS (1FM)
CLEVELAND (1FM)

Ideas?

Lima and Defiance are anybody's guess..I'd suggested the Angottis from Indiana (they own WBTU Ft. Wayne and others) but I don't know who else is a player.

On the Dayton board the general consensus is that CC will spin off WDSJ 106.5 (licensed to and tower location about 50 miles away in Greeneville) and Channel 94-5. WDSJ will end up being a northern valley station, and Radio One or Cox will pick up 95-5.

Marion..best guess is BAS. Not sure about Chillicothe

By the way, since you're "kentuckymedia" any word or speculation about Somerset?

Right now the lead on Somerset is Key Broadcasting. I know they are throwing around the figure of 1.7 or even 2, but that doesnt mean it wont get bought up by a small town broadcaster. Forever of Bowling Green also may have something up its sleeves in the deal as struck with Jackson TN.

As for Defiance and Lima, Angottis are out of the picture there, they just dumped Fort Wayne and rumored to be spinning off another market in Indiana, but who knows.

I think Cedar Point should buy 'em!!!!!!! Move the studios to the park & turn the hut into a museum...they can certainly afford 'em!!! p.s...Kentucky Media...what's goin' down in Lima???

In regards to Wheeling/Parkersburgh, West Virginia Corp is rumored to pick up those stations.

Thanks for the info on Somerset..an interesting little cluster..got to hear them during my Tennesee trip last week.

I just read the piece on the Angotti's selling in Ft. Wayne after I posted last night.

I just fantasize about Good Karma buying 96.5-FM (of which the grandfathered WAKS would have to move; no duh at 106.5-FM). Two fun possiblities could ensue:

1) 96.5 could become the new exclusive home for WKNR (in mono of course), giving the station a solid coverage area from Sandusky to Ashtabula, from Cleveland to Canton. Plus, WWGK could move to 850, giving ESPN Radio a 24/7 clearance.

2) 96.5 simulcasts WKNR at 850, giving birth to a solid AM/FM combo. And that's if GK is able to find a full-time signal to buy or swap with 1540 (and why can't I get WWMK/1260 out of my mind? Jeez...) Here, GK ends up with three stations total, but 1540 would have to be sold.

Why do I think Good Karma could be a serious player? The big reason: it allows them to compete with CC for the Browns radio rights, come 2009. WKNR would need to have a FM partner, good luck with the CBS, Radio One or Salem clusters. Oh, and Good Karma's no stranger to FM sports, either, as WTLX/100.5 is the FSR affil for Madison, Wisconsin (and got Romey this week).
