Clear Channel The Grinch

Here is what I am hearing: At 104.1, SBK Live is gone, SBK will be joining the Monsters again (I know how crazy that sounds, but it seems to be legit). Cabin and Angel are gone, as well as PD Katherine Brown.
At 101.1 LT has been let go. It would seem that more will be coming soon.
 
On the SBK stuff, SBK posted on twitter/crossposted on facebook "It sucks that you can't evey break your own news anymore" so that seems to back up that SBK Live is gone. I don't know what the hell Clear Channel's thinking... kind of mad because SBK Live was far and away my favorite of the shows and the general vibe and focus on night life and stuff made it feel far different from anything else on the radio. Especially with the regular non-show cast (callers like Robert, weekly guests like DJ Baby Lac, Curtis Earth, Tom the Beer Guy, Big Mike, etc.). And to lose his show AND two talented people just to get shoved back into a support role on the Monsters... I can't imagine how pissed off he must be after working so long to even get his own show and then in a short time doing incredibly well with it and turning it into such a success all because Clear Channel would rather save a few bucks. Except when it comes to lining Seacrest's pockets, that is.

Also, Bull from the BS was let go today too.

Jack and Jana over at the Phile better watch their backs because they're probably next on the chopping block if this keeps up. Drunky too.

In agree, but if SBK is heading back to the Monsters, at least he'll still have a gig. It does really suck though.
 
Some suits someplace are apparently doing too much cocaine. The Monsters has been on cruise control and drifting toward the ditch for a long time; I guess they think SBK can prop it up somehow, but the Monsters just need to be put out of our misery. The BS has been doing the same show everyday for along time now; nothing exciting there. The only time I listen to 104.1 at all anymore is the last half of Philips and then SBK. Looks like my cume with them will drop by three hours....
 
I don't even get what demoting SBK back to the role of sidekick does. SBK fans aren't going to want to listen to the Monsters because there's nothing about that show that makes them tune in for SBK (a show that tended to have a younger, decidely more urban/hip listening crowd at least going by callers and what they talked about and stuff) and Monsters fans might like SBK but they're not going to want anyone to replace Daniel except Daniel.

Worse yet, Angel's got a young kid and Bull's a guy with MS. Firing ANYONE like this before the holidays is scummy as hell but especially guys like that.
 
From SBK himself at the start of tonight's show: tomorrow is the last show (an on location show from McDonald's for the McRib launch). Cabin was let go today and isn't on the show tonight. Angel's there and is going to be transferred to a different station. Kevin starts on the Monsters on Monday.

I can't believe this.
 
SPK Live is out

Wow last show today on WTKS. Sad to see live local radio go, but I wonder if there is a format change in the works?

Well as cool and plugged in as SBK sounded, and he was. How does anyone think he can fit in with the redneck vibe that the Monsters throw. He is not an intern anymore, this guy came into his own. He isn't gonna shuck and jive and throw out the black stereotype that Russ had him doing everyday. On top of that, he isn't daniel. The Ego hosting the show, has no idea how to impliment this element. The first time he "throws" it to him, for the funny black guy perspective, the clock will start ticking.
 
as bad as that choice would be, your right. What in god's name keeps Russ there? SBK co hosting with Jimmy, with Daniel and drunky. That show owns the market
 
So 7:00 PM hit and they decided to do the laziest thing possible: just switch to the voice tracked classic rock garbage. I just about threw up.
 
cheap channel doesn't care what goes on after 7:00PM in their small & most medium markets anymore. The WTKS website still lists on the air SBK Live. I wish they would stop running the real rock weekend sweepers during the week. Can't someone go into the production room and cut a sweeper that says real rock nights?
 
Once again I ask...

If you know of their reputation, if you've seen their hisory, if they are so, so, so terrible...

then why go to work there in the first place? Are we supposed to feel sorry now? The CC reputation is WELL KNOWN. If you choose to work there knowing this, that's the grave you dug for yourself!
 
So what the alternative? You make it sound like there are a dozen station owners to choose from. There's CC, Cox and CBS. Work for one of those or find another line of work.
